You should read "Demian", "Siddhartha" and "Steppenwolf", all from the German writer Hermann Hesse. Those are great novels, all have the same genre, but are different stories, and I hope you find them helpful.
Other book you could read is "The Picture of Dorian Gray" from Oscar Wilde, that's my favorite one, strongly recommended. Don't watch the movie, read the novel first.

If you're short of time, read "Demian", that's a great novel, and it's shorter than the other ones.

You've probably already read "The Little Prince", a novel of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, but if you've not read it yet, do it. It's a great short book.

You can try reading the other books of Mitch Albom like "Tuesdays with Morrie" or you can also try the books written by Paulo Coelho like "The Alchemist". These books are nice to read and full of life lessons. They are really very inspiring.

Thank you for you reply. I remember my friend asking me stubbornly to read that book. I always reply him "Whats so good about that book?". And he always reply "Its better if you read it". I always ended up questioning myself if i should read it or not. But since you recommend it i guess i should read. And also the book "The alchemist" by paulo coelho? I think i saw it on a bookstore. Im gonna buy it.

I am into Science Fiction and Fantasy fiction. So if you are not an avid reader and just love to read short stories, then I Robot by Isaac Asimov could just be the book for you. If you want to read a nice novel, then you can try out Nightfall also by Asimov. If you are looking for nice series, then you can try the Foundation series or Harry Potter series and Lord of the Ring series.
Cheers!

Since you aren't into reading books it would be difficult to suggest any for you as I don't know what things interest you. I read just about anything educational....in other words I read books about history, science, current and social issues, politics, and so on. But I also like to read fiction. I guess the only advice I can give is to read books about subjects that interest you.

I would strongly recommend the book 2012 - The Return of Quetzacoatl, written by Daniel Pinchbeck. It's about the moment of transformation humanity is facing right now, but it's not about the end of the world, catastrophic predictions or whatsoever.
Well, it does talk about these things too, but it's a very optimistic and original reflection about what our global society has been doing and where it's leading us to.
It won't give proper answers to these questions, but it's gonna change the way we question the whole proccess.
I loved it!
(There's also a very good documentary about the book).
