Usually, that phrase would be yelled at a child who is standing with the door open, just looking. Today that is me lol. As usually happens close to the day that I get my food stamps, food is low at my house. Mind you, me and the kids aren't starving, but there is nothing in the fridge that I want.
The worst part about it is, I keep going back to the fridge and looking in there, as though some food fairy has come while I wasn't looking, and poofed some good snack in there for me to find. The same thing is in there that was in there the last time! Why do I keep going back?
Am I the only one that finds themselves doing this? Looking in the fridge several times a day, hoping there will be something that wasn't in there before? Gawd I can't wait until Thursday so I can grocery shop!!!

I use to have this problem, but now I grow some fruit right outside my door. This really has kept the refrigerator colder by keeping it closed in this house. You might use your food stamps to buy more fruit in a bulk size. I buy bananas in the 5 pound size and then make muffins and bread. Good luck

I would love to do something like that, but neither the environment nor the neighborhood would allow me to grow something I could eat off of lol.
Bulk doesn't really work out either when you think of freshness. But I do get along with shopping just about every two weeks.

Hi. drknlvly6781. I know exactly what you mean. I usually do this whenever I am hoping that something yummy is in the the fridge that I know that is not there! I keep telling myself that something yummy is present without me just seeing it. But, as I open up my fridge and I don't see it there, I know that I am yet wrong again! So, that is why when the first of the month comes in, I am so glad, because what I have been craving for I can now finally have!

i tend to do it more when it's time to make dinner.
what i really hate tho is when you have something planned out,and a family member decided to snack on an ingredient you need that was in the fridge, and now you have to make something else.
i can't tell you how many times they've scarfed the eggs on me!
you never eat eggs! why today?

I do that all the time. I try and make a "weekly" food shop last as long as possible, sometimes I can make it stretch two or three week. I live by myself, but I am just so tempted by all the delicious food and the offers that I buy too much for just one week lol.
When it is getting to the back end of the second week or into the third week and I get an urge for "something nice", I keep going to the fridge to see what I can find. I also do it out of boredom, which usually results in me nibbling a few grapes or having a mouthful of pop and then fifteen minutes later repeating this all over again.

I'm with you 100 percent on this one. Lately I've been on the same thing trying to find something to eat in the fridge. I can't wait to the next round for food shopping to come as well. I hate it when its nothing to eat. My sister kids eat like its no tomorrow. I know their growing and up in age, but this is the times when you'll have to keep buying and buying, you know how it is over the holidays. The kids ain't got much to do and sit around and look at tv, on a cell phone, play video games or be on the computer. These kind of things get boring after a while.

Me too, I have the habit of opening the fridge even if I know already that there's nothing in there that I like. I think it's just a normal action,we are used to doing it already that it becomes a form of mannerism.I usually open the fridge hoping that something yummy is hiding behind meal left-overs or bottles of water.Sometime it's something that I do out of boredom.

Personally, you are far from the only one doing this. I have found myself doing this many times as well. Even sometimes right after you go grocery shopping as well. It just is sometimes I am not really sure what I am wanting to eat so I have to keep on going in there and looking to see if something really ever catches my eye.

A nice workaround here is dress up as a fairy after you've stock up food. That way, you can say that a fairy put some food in the fridge.
I do that too. I constantly peek at the fridge even though i know full well that no one had put something new. It's crazy but i guess that's just how our body works. There was a time when the only stuff in there was water and i kept coming back. I did it a couple of times then finally grabbing a glass and filling it with water. Lol.
