I am hoping someone can help me. I have a 1994 dodge caravan. It has a lock feature that kicks in whenever the key is turned forward or backward. Since it is an older vehicle it has a hard time unlocking when it is cold. I live in a rural area and do not lock or have reason to lock my van often. We have had many occasions where van has locked us out or cannot open sliding door to let kids out at school(because cold). I would really love help in finding a way to disengage the lock system completely. If I feel the van needs locking then I can lock it, otherwise everyone is mad and have to use spare key (to open when hubby is checking fluid or warming van) or wanting to blow it up when me at school and me and school personnel is trying to open sliding door so kids can get out and me get out of the way. So long story short is there an easy way to bypass this function and save us all a lot of trouble?

Im not framilier with the exact set up of the 94 caravan however If you remove the fuse to the door locks it would disable this feature, the only catch being that once you do this you will have to lock all the doors manually as your power locks will no longer function.

thanks tomorrow I am going to go out and find the fuse and yank that sucker out!! I would so much rather lock it the once or twice a day I need to rather than being locked out cause hubby wanted to warm up van, check oil-- and close the door lol.

im glad that worked for you i figured it would, as far as what the poster below said about the door and possibly having other issues I can give one suggestion that might help you some, Im not sure but ive done it in the past on other van doors. Get yourself a bottle of white litium grease and lightly coat the latch parts both on the door and the roof pillar as well, you can also lightly coat the track if youd like, white lithium grease does not attract dirt and debris like many lubricants will. I hope this helps and saves you from having to deal with anymore aggravation.
