They always say that if things are meant to be, it is meant to be & no matter what & how you will try to reroute,it will still happen. Maybe at some point it was right because there are happenings in my life that I don't really care to think of, even act on it but still it happens. But I'm still thinking twice about it, is it really true? or no matter what destiny is in our hands, we as our selves have the only key to our future & only us our selves has the opportunity to create or ruin our futures' destiny. What do you think about it? Happy New Year..

Hi gracielle,
I believe it depends on how you look at it. Yes there are things that would happen no matter what you feel like and there is no escape. That said, it also follows that nothing happens just because it has/had to happen that way. There are many other factors that lead your way into destiny. We have our roles to play to shape up that destiny.
Here is an example - If we just did nothing believing our destiny has good for us and that good would happen all by itself... I would never have had a harrowing time at school
Cheers,
theSids.

I think we all need to remember that things happen our lives not just for the heck of it but to teach us. It's a little hard for me to explain but I believe that we all have certain destinys. I think we have to be open to destiny and let fate take a hand and let the actual key be our openess to these things.

I don't believe in destiny, life is how we make it and we are the masters of our destiny. Our future depends on our decision of today, our life today is somewhat affected of our choice or decision made yesterday. Those who believe in destiny are those who don't want to grab every opportunity that comes unto their way.

hi gracielle,
Somehow I do believe in destiny. Maybe it is because my mom and elder believes in that too. My mom was separated for very long time and so many times with my dad. They never ever thought they can still be together in the future because of the circumstances. However, in the end, they were able to be together and make it in the church. The same thing happened with my elder sister too. There are also some things that happen that I never expect will happen.Every time a particular even will occur, and I am not thinking it will ever happen, I just think that it is destined to happen.

I was thinking about answering that destiny is meant to be but then you wrote that we can control our future. It made me think about the person who has had a bad childhood who might say that their life was meant to be full of heartaches which I don't think is true. I spent years of suffering by making wrong choices when I was younger but then I turned my life over to God. I was told I couldn't have kids even though I spend years in fertility treatments with no good results I did have children with my husband of 18 years. When I think of destiny I think of that moment when I found out I was pregnant for the first time. I guess it depends on what you have control over and what is beyond your control. Don't you think?

I'm happy to hear that you have already have a kid, yes there are things that we can't explain like in your situation. At first you thought you can't have kids but you did. Something happened to me before, I did all I can on this one just for me to have it but I did not succeed, but after a year It was given to me without any single actions on having it. It was freely given to me.So now I don't push things too hard, I just wait & let it happen if it is really meant to happen. It may not be now but maybe in the future. But as a human I can't help myself by just waiting, I always does things to speed it up but ends up in negative results. I guess the saying "Patience is virtue" was right.

Hi gracielle!
Destiny has a broad meaning. It mainly depends on the situation where responsibility of a person is needed. I agree on what you have said that we have the key to change our own destiny. You see,God helps those who help themselves. If you will just wait there to become rich and do nothing about it then you are destined to be poor. Don't ever blame destiny for the negative things that may happen to you,it is you and only you can make a difference in your life. Things we want to fulfill should always be accompanied with prayers for guidance.
See you around!

Hello gracielle, you are right but I think you need God in your life also. I am not talking about going to church every Sunday. I'm talking about the trust we must have for Him to guide and even change our lives for the better. It took me a while to learn this in life. and let me tell you it is a daily process that can build into a long beautiful relationship with God. It can fill you with joy and peace as you jouney in your life. God bless you and yours. Bye.

I am a believer in destiny. i believe it is out there to guide us. It is something that we both hope and search for. i just don't believe that we have any control over our destiny. that is given to us by a higher power.

When I was a bit younger, and a bit idealistic, I believed in destiny. So, I sat back and waited for things to happen to me. And then I discovered I could influence destiny a little bit if I did something to help me along in things that I want.
Nowadays, destiny or not, I work on things that I think I deserve. This way, I could be proud of myself for working hard to get it.

i believe in destiny, but it may be a little different from the one you described. destiny, for me, is like your aim; it's not the unchangeable future or something, but a promise that God intends to give to each one of us if we make the right choices. i mean, i believe that i have something great and amazing waiting for me out here, but i won't get it if i don't strive to.
to believe that each person's destiny is inevitable would be like saying that God intended the poor to be impoverished. some may have been born in dire or difficult circumstances but they have in their hands the power to change that.
maybe the only thing that's constant about destiny is that we're all meant to die in the end.

Yes...I do believe in destiny. Some instances in my life have convinced me to believe it. Lot of time, it happened like in interview, I and my friend scored the sam emarks in aptitude test, but my friend only got call and I was left behind. He got the oppertunity to give interview first so he got selected and I didn't get any call. So..yes sometimes destiny makes me happy sometimes ofcourse makes me to cry.

As hindu i believe in destiny, rebirth, karma etc, things are predestined, we have to follow the track only, we can't avoid that track, things will happen.
To get the best things done, we need efforts, sitting cross legged, leaving things on luck or destiny will never help.
happy posting, thanks for this discussion, cheers..

hello,
When I was a teenager I use to believe in destiny but now I am not sure about that maybe it depends? hmmm because for me destiny is something that you will be in your future that you can change it or not. On the other hand i believe it because I never thought that i will find my special someone through this destiny. Hmmm
so, really depends on the person how to interpret it.

I really do believe in destiny.
Early last year, my friend suffered an awful accident. His life fell apart: he lost his job, his girlfriend, friends, financial security and most importantly his confidence. However, while trying to put his life back together, he has got a better job that he loves, and met the love of his life. None of this would have happened without him going through that awful time in his life. Things really do happen for a reason.
However, that is not to say that we can't influence our destiny. Life sets out the fork in the road for us, but only us ourselves can decide which path to take.

Hello i believe in destiny but not so strongly. The saying that the destiny is in our hands sounds good but i think that in main meanings is where you posited as place for living.I mean your nationality.Even is depend if you live in small or big town.Nowdays your effort to make good things to yourself and other is complicated understanding. So your trying to write your destiny can be easily failed by some factors which not depend of you.In my word i examine the destiny only in positive meaning. So i strongly believe that the destyni is in high stage in which we hard can enter only with our doings.Happy New Year To You Too!
