actually i don't know the diffrent of these two foods. they both have noodles and meatball in one plate.
in fact in some regional like Cirebon, we can eat mi ayam ( chicken noodles with meatball) with 'kuah' just like Bakso ( meatball with noodles)
how you explain it if someone from abroad ask you about the differences?

in some area like cirebon, kuah mi ayam is as much as bakso.
but it is, they have different in noodles. in mi ayam, it has an unique noodles. while bakso is combine of yellow noodles and white noodles ( bihun or soun).
i would like to have mi ayam than bakso, cause it makes more satisfied

Oh dear, i am so sorry for my confusing opinion. It just make me realize that our country is plural and so many different words for the same thing. As you mention above about BAKWAN in malang is pangsit in my place. And bakwan in my place is ote- ote in some place. LOL
I hope you didn't get headache for this. Lol again.

bakso is noodles with meatball in soup.. while mi ayam is noodles with chicken pieces in soup.. however it taste different. for mi ayam is a bit like curry with more viscous soup.. mi ayam is often serve with a little soup.. both bakso and mi ayam are delicious!
