My daughter is involved in a lot of activities, including her friends and boyfriend. I work and volunteer a lot. We havent spent much time together, we are always going going going. Saturday I had the day off, she had nothing planned, so we sat around playing video games together - not two person games, one person games taking turns. We spent about twelve hours doing this. No computer, no other people, no phones. We played, we made junk food, we lazed about. This was the BEST time I have had in a very long time. We laughed so hard for so long. My daughter is 16 so these times are very limited. It meant the world to me. Have you had any wonderful times lately? With your kid(s)? With your parent(s)? It is SO important to take time to smell the roses.....

During these days, I barely have time with my kids because aside form my 8-5 work, I also enrolled in a university to take some units in teaching. My son is complaining because he seldom sees me, but i try to explain my situation to him and his siblings. By the way, I noticed that they are trained to feed themselves even if I'm out, so i think there's a good side of what i am doing.

Just make sure to take some time with them, or you will wake up one day and notice they are grown and gone.

Sounds like you had great time with your daughter. Everyday I spent time with my mom more than my dad. With my dad, only his days off, or it is a major holiday. I would take them to go eat out. That is all. We live together, so we see each other everyday. Sometimes we have dinner together too. I am the one who talk less while in the dinner table.

But the time together will sustain you later and show you how to interact with your own children

Hi Laglen, I have a 16 yr old so I know just what you mean here. Between activities, school, friends and boyfriend, she hardly ever has time or energy just to hang out with mom. Every now and again though we have these moments. I cherish every one of them. Some are really just moments but those are the moments that create the memories. It's been a long while since we had an entire day. Christmas was fun. We had the whole family coming over and she and my other daughter and I spent the morning baking and getting ready...joking, chatting....it was just a fun time.

It is healthy to spend time with our children. It creates a feeling in children's mind that parents have care and interest in their matters. It causes to maintain a good parent-child relationship. So we should find out time everyday to spend with our children.

I am a working mother and most of the time my four year old son spents his time with his father. I make sure that I let him feel that I still give time for him even though I'm in the office for the whole day. Before I go to the office, I am the one preparing his things to school. When I got home, I check on his assignments and we study together. If there is still time, we play together. I also make sure that we hug and kiss everyday, in that way I let him feel how much I love himn ;)

It is pretty great. Some of our best memories are the power going out and having to "camp" in our own home.

Sounds great! I get quality time with my kids a lot actually. They're all still young without a lot going on in their own lives just yet, and of course I'm still currently a stay at home mom, so not much going on for me either. We watch movies together, go places together. We went sledding 3 times last week with some friends of ours. I'm sure things will change soon as they get older and have less time for us, and hopefully I'll be working soon which will give me less time with them. I will cherish it more than though.

yes do enjoy it now. I remember those days, it was just a couple of years ago. We have always been very close, still are, but just that time with nothing pressing, I miss so much. I am glad you are fortunate enough to have so much time with them. Eventually you will be looking back at those memories and Thank the Good Lord you had them!

Laglen dear. I was smiling while reading your post. It reminded me of my 12year old daughter who is in the province living with his brother and my parents (Long story). I do miss them. We had great times but it was years ago. I can no longer remember when was the last time I had a good laugh with my kids. My two younger daughters are with me but though we play , I am mostly occupied by the houseworks and taking care of them. We hardly bond as in bond as a family and not because of duties... I miss to smell the roses...

That is sad that you cant make new memories with your daughter but be sure and enjoy who is home now. Dont waste a minute. Play a stupid game or go for a walk! I hope this inspires...

I saw my husband a few weeks ago playing Monopoly with the kids. I just watched them having such a good time. I came upstairs to get some rest because like you I do alot of volunteer things or just things with my kids. I was thinking that I needed to do some time like that with the kids because life can be so hectic that you just go on and on. The last time we spent time on our own was when we went hiking in the mountains.
