Why do I want to get rich?

I received a present the other day which is a book entitled, "Choose to be Wealthy" by Bo Sanchez. I have not finished the book yet. But there is one important pointer I would like to share. Wealth belief. Many people have this notion of not wanting to get rich because they are afraid to lose friends, become evil, become a broken family, or it will depict an ungrateful heart towards God (some one who's not in content). But let me tell you, life is all about the choice that we make. It's a cliche statement yet an understatement of the wonderful things money can positively contribute to every person especially the needy. If you have the right reasons to get rich why not push it through. If you think and believe that God does not want you to get rich then says who? Your mind. You, yourself. Why would God deprive us of the abundance in the first place. It is true that we could never choose the status of life once we are born (rich or poor) but we all have the power to make a 360-degree turn. It's all in your hands. At most times, good opportunities are left unseen and unheard. And before you could even think again, it's gone.
I am an IT consultant by profession. This is my full-time job. This gives me my daily living. Last year was a turning point, I got the job with the company and rate that I ever wanted. But, two more things were added on my story. Before I got the job that I want (while still with my previous company), I opened my online store. Importing from overseas and selling it on facebook made way for my entrepreneurial skills. I took the risk of dealing with a foreigner I communicate only by mail, chat and later on sms. Because I am a wealth-driven person I made it until now while I joined recently an MLM company selling Anion Napkins to multiply my streams of income.
Yesterday I visited my godchild. It was my first time to see their house. It was a depressed area while the house is very small and crowded. The mother of my godchild is a family of ten. Seven of which have children (of course that includes my godchild) and one of those children also have children. Indeed it was a never-ending cycle of poverty. I asked her (godchild's mother) what keeps them busy--the answered is none. I was allowed to demonstrate the napkin that I have been marketing. They were thrilled but declined the offer because no one will take care of her baby aside from not having the confidence of being able to do it. I even offered to sponsor them provided they would have to work hard as I help them establish their network.
Wealth belief. For as long as you believe on the negative and allow your self on stumbling blocks, nothing will ever happen. You will get stucked on being poor, having to make ends meet, worrying day after day and passing it to the next generation. My mom for instance is not business-minded person. She keeps on insisting that overseas employment is the key for us to become rich. Yet, I am the only one in the family who is an employee/entrepreneur. In time, I want to change things around. Make business my primary source of income and if my career on the IT field continues it will be an added income then. Why? If I get sick and was unable to work, income stops as well accumulating debts in the future.
My very reason for being this motivated is simple. Expand and multiply. As I expand, I will have less limitations. As I multiply, I am passing it to the next generation and to other people as well to expand too. Now, this becomes my joy and pride. Money earned, doubled and shared. Now tell me that money is not equal to happinness?

Hello there. I am doing very well. Yeah, it could be more understandable to get too disappointed at times but the key is stay focused and never give up. A lot of prominent business personalities' stories I have read have experienced numerous failures just like what I read a while ago on how KFC's CEO was rejected 1,000 times while having long drives offering hi chicken to people. But look on how big it is now. 1,000 is very rough yet he continued to pursue his dream but I bet he has all the big reasons to do so. And I am choosing the same path as theirs because I want change among people that I love and barely know. For me to do this, I need huge funds ans resources. BTW, Thank you for your encouragement. =)

I agree, money is happiness, but not total happiness when one becomes too greedy over money, and end up harming others for the sake of more money. MOney when earned in the right way, do bring happiness to us as well as others when we use it in the right way. Real happiness from wealth and money does not come from pampering ourself with it, but helping others who needs it. That's where true happiness from come, like what u are doing.

Yes. When money is solely spent only for yourself, you are defying the true purpose of wealth. Not only that, you are also closing the doors of other opportunities others might be able to offer or worse because doors have closed, during tough times, good life will easily turn around. On the contrary, pampering one's self is but normal. One should also reward himself for all the hard work and nothing is wrong with that because self satisfaction is needed is keep ourselves sane. We are not robots so it is most understable that we have our own pleasures to enjoy but then again never sway away from our duties and responsibilities of sharing what we have to others.

In today's world money means everything to many people. It is hypocritical to say that money is not equal to happiness. Having no money or little money is sure making life a misery. Unlike the olden days where the market were not saturated with many things that blinded the eyes, money doesn't mean anything anymore than to purchase the everyday necessitie like sugar and salt where they can't produce themselves. People then were hardworking to produce their own foods in their farms. Any excess of their produce where then used to swap with landed properties like the case of my great grandparents. They worked so hard to acquire vast properties which we in the third generations are still enjoying their fruits of labour. Having lots of properties in those days were considered wealthy even without money in the bank. Mom used to tell me that one generation earned and the next generation spend them all when my siblings sold their inheritance. Some people have blessings of sudden wealth through chance or inheritance. But not many are endowed with the wisdom to protect, conserve or put it to good use. Anything that is not earned through the sweat of one's brow tends to be squandered through abuse.
For right thinking people, having lots of money is not something for them to accumulate for craving's sake. It is intended for their own happiness while on earth as well as of others. When we have money we can make the world around us a better place to live in. Planting the right seeds now will ensure we are able to reap the bounty in future. Probably we can use our wealth to reduce the sufferings of the poor, the sick and the aged. It is part of our duties to our people, our country and our religion.

That was a wonderful thought my friend. The fulfilling promise of wealth and abundance is to share it to the needy. It is not a probability but a fact we must face as we are held accountable with each other. While it won't meaning giving them fish directly, helping them be equipped with the right knowledge and other things they would need to start off especially if one is financially capable. I also agree with you that wealth obtained by luck squander off any time if not put into good use. The generation today are taking things in a harder way unlike before. I just hope everyone's choice is a more well-defined path of life.

While there are a lot of people that believe that it takes a lot of money to be happy, I don't find that to be the case for me at all. Don't get me wrong, my husband and myself are working very hard to get out of debt, but our goal once we don't have debt anymore is not to have a ton of money. Instead, our goal is to be able to enjoy our lives in a way that we've never been able to enjoy our lives. I know that our family will eventually be able to travel and not worry about finances and that is the goal that I am working toward.

That's alright. We have our own simple dreams when it comes to money and that's alright. For my case, I need to live up with my wildest dream of getting rich in the next five years. I need to work fast and hard to help people around me. I just can't simply ignore them. But if I put them out of the picture, I really won't need too much money for myself.

wanting to be wealthy is actually not a sin or a prelude to committing sins. As long as you have noble reasons for wanting to get rich and you attain your wealth through hard and honest work, no one would fault you with that. However, i strongly agree with you that it is about mental conditioning and the adoption of the law of attraction. if you want to get wealthy, you have to think it and the actions will follow towards that goal. furthermore, if you start envisioning it in your mind, that you are rich, your actions will most likely be influenced by it and you will make the most of your time to make it towards that goal.

actually, i used to believe in luck and destiny too myhypie. But things happened that changed my perspective in life and i realized that people just attribute their being down or their present situation to God, luck or misfortune, when in fact, they are just too lazy or too afraid to work for their dreams and ambitions. I came to believe that what your mind can conceive, you can achieve. Of course, you must do everything you can, putting all your efforts and hard work in order to achieve your goals. But the real secret to all the realization of becoming successful in your efforts, of becoming wealthy, should start within your mind. If you can't think it, you can't envision it, then probably you won't achieve it. You just have to start it in your mind, conditioning yourself for what you're aiming for, and you will actually propel the necessary mechanisms within yourself, towards that goal. And yes, i hope to apply this principle into a more valuable cause, this coming days.

Finally, we both jived. I am so happy to hear that from you. At least, you understand my point. I hope you could also apply it in the near future for a more valuable cause. I love that law of attraction. It's amazing and makes a lot of sense. If only people could see and understand it, they won't need to believe on destiny, luck and put the blame on God for their own misfortunes.

I understand you ideea. But let`s talk about something else.99% of people on this earth has a single dream. To get rich.Ok , we have a dream , we work to get rich , work hard , again and again. We don`t have time for us anymore , we don`t LIVE!After 10-15 years in best case we get rich.In one morning when we drink our coffe and read financily news paper we have a "evrika" moment : We have 40-45 years , we had money , we have the best car in town , the bigest house , our wife is a model .... we think that we have everything. But we really have something?
I will answer you : In one bad day , we can lose a bussnies. It`s ok , we have another 2-3 way`s to make money , in another day we realize that our wife is cheating us with an 25 year model.....E.t.c.We reach 50 years alone .... and we realize that once we had everything WE DREAMED about but we don`t have A NICE MEMORY.Why?It`s simple : beacuse all that we dreamed about was to get rich!We forgot to live , to smile sincerely and cherish the littel but important pleasures in life.
My point is : Is not bad to wanna live better , have money or get rich but let`s not focus only on financial aspect.Let`s cherish life and those littel thing`s that make us happy. After all , money comes and goes. It`s a word : what comes aroung , goes around.
Cherish life people , be smart and money will come!Best regards!

I am sorry but I don't think you understood it very well as if you'd read my entire post like an excerpt only. In summary, my aggressiveness towards wealth is driven by the fact I am being limited to help because of my (of course) limited resources too. Let us all face the fact our lives revolve around having to have something to spend on. Even if you have to attend a church for a service still tithes comes in the form of money. What you are citing about life are what if's and worst scenarios. I tell you, you do your own fate. No one is held accountable on what you did yesterday or what you will do today and tomorrow other than yourself. If things turn out the other way around then move on go to the next open door and do your thing. As for businesses, losing it in one bad day depends on its scale because if it is well-established; you have plans A, B, C so on and so forth and you will never be caught off guard. That is if you know how to strategize. If you notice successful businessmen are not into one business only. They multiply it. It becomes some sort of conglomerate. Always have a fallback and never let yourself get totally paralyzed.
Also my topic is about my right and valid reasons to get rich. So it is but obvious to entirely put it on the limelight. We all have the power to make things stay based on the right decisions that we make. If it goes, you can always have something to replace it if not the best at least something better yet it still depends on you.

These are some very Good comments here that this book shares. Sounds like a real good Self help type book for sure. Because overall it is up to us what we do in our lives and want to get out of them. If you sit back and want everything to come to you then you have no one to blame if everything goes wrong.
As for becoming rich... For me, it means living comfortably to where when a need arises that I need some extra $$ for, I have it, and if I feel like helping out someone or a family I can do so as well. Right now I work for a Company as a Call taker for a Cab company, and also starting my Own business from my home. I have the Business license, etc. just needing to continue to motivate myself to take it out of the box to where I can eventually not have to work for anyone else.
Until that day happens I just continue to Pray and work towards that goal knowing in time success can come and happiness will all be worthwhile.

Money and productivity equals to happiness for me. I want to prove my skills from what I learn at college to work. Nevertheless I have no opportunity to do so. And earning a handsome money is my ambition.

I do not understand the meaning of being rich perhaps, is it that when we have anough money and no need to work to enjoy a luxurious life? or if we have too much money and do not know how much isd that? or we are happy and satisfied with the life style that we have opted and wished ?
For me being rich is to be able to be able to spend a good lifestyle doing things as a human being for family, society and country as well.
So I do not believe that being rich I am afraid to lose friends or become evil or become a broken family.
I am in IT industry and perhaps you can understand the unpredictability of the market goign under recession so I do not think much about being rich and trying to live everyday with what I am doign and getting. Many people think that IT peoples are the richest guys and they are the reason for inflation as they spend without thinking much, I would say gone are the days.
Thank you for sharing.

While most of us have the desire to get rich if we are not committed it will only remain as a dream. So I encourage you to search for your passion as you pursue your dream. I have committed myself in being a millionaire in 5 years time because if I delay things, I might be too late to help other people especially those close to me. All the best!

I don't believe that wealth is determined by luck or destiny. When we were born, it was still a choice our mothers made right? Whether an expected or unexpected pregnancy because it will take 9 months for them to give birth. You study, get a job/get a living, love, get married and have children are all bound to one's choices. Now, where does wealth come from? Our job/other earnings. This is another topic to discuss. What people needs is to have the right notion and knowledge for them to see a clearer path of achieving it.

Well, much money doesn't mean happiness, but no money means no happiness definitely. One year ago I resigned from a common but no worry job,and my family was very happy.I wanted to change a way of working and living at that time. After that,I lost the job,and become a vagrant.Though I try all my best to make money through many ways, the income still is not enough.Obviously, the relationship between me and my family or my friends changes greatly. Now I am still thinking should I resign or not at that time.Money is only money?Happiness is only happiness?

As I have said, money is a means of trade less of it or without it, life can be so hard. If it's overflowing I wouldn't have to hesitate lending or even giving money to people that I know who badly needs it when I also have to pay for. I wouldn't hesitate to take my family on fine dining restaurants once in a while or buy what they want. I wouldn't hesitate to give tithes to the organizations I am a member. I would like to instantly donate to charities or to those who asks help on the news etc. Because I know being abundant lies on my hands on how I have to multiply them. And with that it translates every deed into happiness. Money is only money if you keep it to yourself. Why not choose both, money and happiness. It's possible my dear friend. Never settle for anything less. Strive for something great. All the best!
