I don't know if you guys ever encounter such thing. When I join other social networking sites, such as mp5, or myallfriends, within days, there some strangers who sent me some weird email messages. They are from other countries, or they might from here. They talk about they had review my profile, and I seems to be the perfect one for them. They would like to have a date with me or something like that. From the first time, that might sound like a hoax. I just ignore it, and delete the message. After while, I would receive such similar message from other persons. That was just annoying. Don't you receive such message from other sites like that?

Yes, it really is such a nuisance to receive such emails. I will also ignore it and quickly delete the message. No point in reading them cause their messages are almost similar.

Yup, I've gotten anywhere from asking for financial assistance in getting large sums of money to being put on a mailing list for latest marketing sites, to request to begin a lesbian relationship! Grrrrrrrrrrrr.......... People are just plain desperate, you know? I either ignore them or report them to the Spam section of Gmail.

Yes, all sites which put your email address on your profile (or allow anyone to send a message if they can see your profile) are open to this kind of spam. I get it, too, from Yahoo and Hotmail. The spammers are people who are, of course, trying to sell you something. Many of them are trying to get you to buy into a dating site (there is big money in referrals to many dating sites). The "I looked at your profile and I think you're cute ..." line is a very common one. Of course, they DIDN'T really think you were 'cute'! All they did (and all they do all day) was to surf the profiles of members of the site and send a copied-and-pasted message! The problem is that, when you signed up to the site, you AGREED to allow other members to contact you. Maybe you didn't read the Terms and Conditions or maybe you didn't bother to set whatever Privacy options the site allows in your Profile. I suggest that you visit ALL of your 'social networking sites'/forums in turn and LOOK at the privacy options (and the Privacy Policy) for each one. If you don't like it, change the options or close your account! Closing your account and making sure that your data is completely removed from the site can often be a BIG challenge in itself! Be careful, in future, what you are signing up for! We live not just 'and learn' but IN ORDER TO learn!
