Its really great that India qualified for the Asia Cup after 1984. However, the reality is that India's chances are very less to make it to the final four or eight. So the only question is whether there would be any possibility for team India to move into the second round?

I think chances of India's team in the Asia Cup are pretty low. But for the lot it is more a question of getting experience at this level. The more they start playing regularly with the top teams in Asia, the more they will start improving. That in the long run could start India's move to make the world Cup at some point!! Cheers! Ram

Your views are great. India is all set to gain more valuable experience through this tournament. It will be really great if they could show some great resistance against Australia and Korea. Let's cheer for team India on this big stage.

I saw the AFC Cup which India won to book their ticket to this Asia Cup. I thought India played creditably in that. So now they have nothing to lose and they can go for the jugular. Let's hope we have at least one upset. Cheers! Ram

The question is the confidence level. The build up to the Asia Cup (Portugal tour) hasn't done any good to the team. They should have played in first class league matches against teams in Australia and South Korea instead of Portugal. This would've given more confidence while playing against their respective national teams. So let's see how team India is gonna perform in the big stage.

Well I don't think Indian team is developed its skills up to the level of South Korea, Japan, etc. India plays very well against teams like Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan and some lesser teams which rank below Indian team. The sad part is that Indian team is not getting any experience and lot of tournaments are played in India which is in between themselves, no foreign players play for domestic teams like the English Premier league or Spanish League, etc. How will players grow and develop their skills if they keep on play within themselves. It is one great thing is the Indian football team is qualified for Asia Cup. So, in-spite of less support from government of India and less popular sport among the people they will made it to Asia Cup that is heartening news and hope they do shock some giant teams in Asia Cup.

Your views are amazing. India has to make major changes and listen to coach Bob Houghton's suggestions. However, it doesn't look too good as there are lot of friendlies cancelled before the Asia cup last year that didn't serve any good purpose for team India. Indian players have to play in big leagues like Bundesliga, Italian Serie A and so on to improve their skills.

Practically speaking, India's achievement is to qualify for the trophy. India is the last ranked among all the teams and hence there is not much hope for the Indian side. Again they are being placed along with the biggies in Asian football like Australia and South Korea. Also not to forget Bahrain. The other thing that India can do is to concede as less goals as possible. Even conceding 10 goals in 3 games will be an achievement. Also India should look to draw at least one of three games. This will really be enough.

So practically speaking, it will be nice if India could repeat on what New Zealand did during the last world cup - all draws.
