I enjoy playing the various Zynga games on Facebook, but, every time i start a game and play it for awhile my computer freezes for awhile and i receive the "Internet Explorer Not Repsonding"message. I don't know why this continues to happen, since this is the only website where this occurs. Can anyone here advise me as to why this continues to occur? and also does this ever happen to you?

It might happen for a variety of reasons but since it only happens on this website I'd suggest that it's due to a coding error in the websites html that causes IE to stop running when it trys to run the faulty code.

it's not your fault it's just that i'm such a computer novice i have no idea what you're referring to, or if there's anything i can do about this problem. but, i do appreciate the information.

hi jujunme oh that old IE is horrid for that thats why I changed to Firefox mozilla . what I did was close out and reboot your computer this usually fixes the problem and why it does that I still do not know as I just do not use it as it just did not mylot worth a damn so just use Firefox now for all things and it never gives me a problem.

I'm using IE because its faster than Firefox (thats my opinion anyway) It freezes sometimes, but reopens the same tab on restarting, (no need to reboot) so it's not a problem. In my case I put it down to the fact I'm running 64-bit IE and some websites may not be entirely compatable with that.

If you're 64-bit then you might be interested to know that there is now a 64-bit Firefox. It's version 4.0 beta. I'm using it now and taking part in the beta testing program and it's been OK so far. You might be interested in trying it yourself.

jwfarrimond:Sorry i didn't respond sooner, i just noticed the additional post was from someone else besides Hatley. I also experience no other problem wth IE ,but since i frequently play the Facebook games, it's very frustrating having to shutdown every time i receive the no response message.if this just happened some of the time, i could deal with it, but, it happens "every" time, i access the games.i'm also using 64-bit IE,so i agree it may be a combatability problem.but, whatever it is, i think using Firefox for certain programs is worth a try.

Maybe it because of the loads of user at the time you encountered such problem. It only easy to fix this problem you only need to refresh your page so don't feel irritated when this things happen to you again.

The problem is, the game does load pretty quickly, but, after a few minutes my computer freezes and the program stops responding. I have tried refreshing the page but, since the computer freezes i just can't do anything but shut down the program altogether.Very frustrating.

Because internet explorer sucks! It's the absolute worst browser. Nothing but problems and viruses. You should really switch browsers. I use firefox. It is my favorite.

Wow, you're the 3rd person here to say how bad IE is.I just don't understand why i don't seem to have too many problems with it except for what i mentioned in this discussion.but, those "Windows Internet Explorer Not Responding" messages are enough of a problem to have me consider using another browser.

Oh, Internet Explorer, talk about a bad program. It is very resource demanding. Even on the high end computer I have, it is still really extremely frustrating. It would not open for me one time and the website that I needed to access could only be properly viewed for a while. It could be some script on the website not agreeing with Explorer. At least that seems to be the logical thing for me.

Yes, i know what you mean when you say it can only be "properly viewed for awhile", since that's exactly what happens when i attempt to play any game on Facebook.it seems to be ok for awhile and then out of nowhere the "not responding" message shows up and i have no choice but to shut down the computer altogether, since i can't even close out the program and return to my home page.Perhaps as you mention, it may be a "script" problem, since i don't seem to have many problems accessing any other website where this occurs.

Try using s different internet browser like Opera or Firefox, for me IE is the wort browser ever, any other is much safe, reliable and faster than IE...

I think i will start using Firefox even though most of the time, i don't experience too many problems using it but when i do it's very irritating since i have to shut down my computer every time i receive the "not responding" message , since it won't respond to any other command.

Try to scan first your PC if you will find a virus. If none, proceed in checking out your memory. Usually if you play games like such you must have at least or higher than 1GB.

it's definitely not a virus and as i mentioned, this only occurs when i attempt to play any type of Zynga game on Facebook. I'm pretty sure it isn't memory, since you do need a sufficent amount to play any game and i can do this on other sites.
