Hi everyone. I want to earn some money by writing articles. But I have a problem. When I write about something, I tell the whole thing in just a few sentences and then I stuck. I think when I keep telling the same think then the reader will be bored. But there are articles in which they are telling just the same think all over again. When they are giving the information in the first or second paragraph, why are they telling the same information in the other paragraphs too.I personally get bored when I read such articles. Am I right or wrong? What do you think? Please give me some advice how to improve my writing skills or how the write a good article.

In addition to the above you can try using a mind map when writing an article or anything else. Basically you start by writing the main points in the form of a map. Many people draw a cloud shape for each point, Lines are drawn connecting relevant points. Using this method it would become easier to visualise or see further points. In other words it would eventually make it easier to expand a piece of writing,

Article writing must be one of the best ways to earn money online because of the potential for passive income. I feel that anyone can write an article because basically what an article needs to have is an Introduction, a Body and a Conclusion. Usually most sites require a minimum of at least 400 words for an article and articles with such lengths do quite well in search engines. If you're worried about repeating yourself, you should use the 5Ws - the Who, What, When, Where and How of the topic. When you write about any topic try to give some background information about the topic in the first paragraph and then elaborate about the topic in the body of your article and then round it up in the last paragraph. Personally, I think the best way to write an article without appearing to be padding or presenting just fluff is to write list of tips or facts. You will get a longer article with much information for the reader and this will be very much appreciated.

I have known UmiNoor for some time now and is full of good advice. I agree with her about the article writing. If you stay at it and learn a bit about how to market your links, you will be amazed of the money you will make once you develop a following of readers...even if you stop writing for awhile. This is what she means about passive income. There is nothing better than finding out you are making money and you haven't done anything for a few weeks. It takes work though, in the beginning and all it costs is your time and some research on what to write about. But once you have a large number of stories and articles out there at websites like Triond, Associated Content, Bukisa and others, the passive income will happen. Good luck!

you have to give the reader as much information as you can and make it interesting. i find that how to articles or articles like 10 tips to loose weight in 2011 draw the most readers.

Try to keep to the best tip/advise till the end. Many writers fall in the trap of revealing their best point in the first paragraph itself. You can instead write, about who the the tips can benefits the readers. Try extending an article by writing about what is not covered in that article. a good article need not be long. 250-270 words is an ideal length for an article written with the idea of earning money from it. keep writing & one is bound to keep improving.

Hi srijshm. I think I would be one of the writers you mentioned :) . And I always thought that a good article should be 350-400 words long. :) Thanks for your tips.

Hahaha. I don't laugh because you're like than but I laugh because I'm like you! But you are right as well that one-line topics are boring. And what you could do maybe is to give your topic a general idea and break it down into specific areas. Or if it is something that can be done, try writing steps on how you can achieve it. Hope that helps. :)

You need to learn to expand on your ideas. Always remember that expanding an idea does not mean that you are repeating it. Expanding means providing more information so that people who know nothing about your topic will learn something new at the end of the article. It will take some practice but it will definitely get you on a good start. Best of luck!

Yes, it's boring to read an article that doesn't have enough to say about a subject, so it repeats itself. To avoid that, think of different ways of looking at the subject and explain them, or do more research to fill in more detail. Look at what you've written and see if there are words or phrases that could be explained more or detailed more.

I think you have newspaper reporter style of writing. You are able to summarise all the important details in a single sentence. Not many people have that skills, you know. Anyway, the key thing about writing is elaborating the points mentioned in that single sentence. You need to answer the who, what, where, when, why, how of the topic in greater detail. That is what writing is about. However, writing for the internet may be a different story. The main idea is to have audience. The article may sound boring because of repetitive words but it helps the article get across to many more people. So which ones are you writing for?

Hi Sydney. I didn't know that there was such a skill. I try to write more articles, but I noticed that I want them to be perfect, maybe too perfect.

It's pretty annoying but the only way to get better at it, is to write and write and write. I would suggest that for your next article, you make a plan and really try to make the article as long as possible, no matter how long it takes. And the techniques and methods you use to make your article longer that time, can be used over and over again, once you figure them out. So write one amazing article, no matter how long it takes, you will learn from it and it will be much easier next time!
