I think it is Manny Pacquiao. He can make the Philippines crime free even for just a few moments. He can unite the Filipinos together. Do we have new heroes that are taught in school?

Any true Filipinos know the national hero is Jose Rizal.
Pacquiao is a modern day Filipino hero. But his accomplishments are not as big compared to what other heroic Filipinos did for their country.

What is essentially the outcome of Jose Rizal's accomplishments? Why is the older heroes much bigger than Pacquiao's career.

So if you die for your country, you are a hero? Is it really necessary to die?

But don't you think Manny Pacquiao is also an OFW because he fights abroad?

Isn't that what an OFW is, someone who works abroad?
Then he is a hero as you said OFW's were our modern national heroes.

He is but I think Pacquiao might be a better candidate.

Let us not put this thing in a joke.Heroes are not just a person who excel in his field but someone who's character are incomparable to anybody. He or she must posses traits that elicit not only admiration but inspirational to others. Manny pacquio may be a great boxer but it's not enough to make a hero out of him. Heroes are not created, they are born with a destiny etched in their lifetime.

But he did brought peace even just for a while that is something very remarkable to me. Can you tell me someone who is inspired by a hero(just so I know what you are talking about)? Thank you.
