Although I am not really all that fond of it, I eat Maruchan Instant Lunch (cup a soup) every weekday/work day for lunch. I have been eating this stuff for years. Before I started eating Instant Lunch, I used to eat ramen noodles for lunch. The main reason I eat the the Instant Lunch is that it costs 38 cents for a package and it is the cheapest thing I can eat every day. Now I know that ramen noodles are cheaper (about 18 cents), But it's a lot more trouble to make the ramen noodles, so I go with the Instant Lunch (cup a soup). It tastes pretty good and is somewhat filling, so it works for me. My favorite flavors are beef, shrimp, chicken, and roasted chicken. I have tried other flavors, actually just about every flavor that is available at my local superstore. I'm not too fond of the spicy flavors or the cheddar cheese. I do like the fact that Maruchan is manufactured in the USA. Nutritionally, the stuff is probably not all that good for me. Each cup has 110 calories and is about 50% salt, according to the box. The soup does have some vitamin content and contains no trans fat. I don't eat anything with it, although hot sauce does sound good. So, to sum it up, if you don't have much money, ramen nooodles and Instant Lunch are a pretty good deal. They are cheap, easy to make, and do a fair job of filling you up.

Instant noodles - Not healthy
Well if it is instant it could not be good. Instant noodles or ramen are actually considered poor man's food. Indeed it is cheap, easy to make, and filling. However it is not a healthy stuff. Eating this all day will result in poor nutrition because it is basically rich in sodium and preservative and artificial flavoring which will hurt our health over long time of consistent intake.

Go easy with all this instant noodles as they are not very healthy to eat it everyday and it can be fatal. There is this case of a young lady who lived on instant noodles while studying at the university for 3 years. Her lunch and dinner was always instant noodles. Even after she started working she still take instant noodles. Suddenly she fell sick and was admitted to hospital. She was surprisingly diagnose with malnutrition and it has affected her internal organs. Only after one month of being admitted to hospital she passed away. I think she has been addicted to instant noodles and did not take other foods or food supplements. Maybe you can eat instant noodles but not eating it everyday like this unfortunate lady who has taken nothing else but instant noodles for years without realizing that too much of one thing is not good.

When I was growing up I ate a ton of this stuff, and when I was first out on my own. You are right it has and insane amount of salt and one packet is actually 2 servings. I always keep some on hand for the kids and a cheap quick lunch. I know lots of collage kids who live off of this stuff.
