I was listening to Kallis speak at the award ceremony. He said to shastry that over the last three to four years he has made a change in the approach to his batting. " I am making a deliberate effort to score faster" is what he said.
While we all know that Sachin has slowed down his scoring rate. The contrasting approaches of both players is pretty interesting because it is obviously working for these great players.
Would love to hear your opinion on this.

well yes kallis is scoring faster now a days but the thing about sachin is something i doubt. i don't think he has reduced his scoring rate at all. i mean the way he was playing the one days and the T20 games, he was actually scoring at a better rate and on a more consistent basis than any other young player in the whole country. and about the test matches, well i think he is the best person to judge when he should score fast and when he should score slow. after all i guess he is playing for more than two decades now :)

That is because of the way both have played over their career. When Sachin started his career he was way ahead of others of his time in terms of scoring rates. So he had to slow up. While Kallis was more on the slower side and was dropped from the ODI teams and the T20 teams at various times because of that. So for him playing faster was the way to go.
Cheers!

It depends upon need of the hour.Kallis is a fine player and he plays really well but sachin is far better than kallis in every approach while chasing 342 sachin changed his approach and scored at a very low rate and he even didn't scored a boundary. It shows sachin can mould himself with respect to every situation.
Long Live Sachin:)

surely kallis in the recent past has been able to score more quicky when compared to his past scoring rate.
but i would not say that sachin has started scoring slow, the simple example is the 200 he hit in ODI in recent past.
but in test he has been scoring a bit slow, but its due to the situation.
the experience has gained sachin more fluency in batting and he plays according to situation, thats all.
