The ICC ranking for all-rounders sounds like a joke No:8 - M.G.Johnson No:9 - C.Gayle No:10 - V.Shewag There are two English allrounders too ! Guess who ? No:5 - S.G Broad No:6 - G.P.Swann Why have genuine allrounders vanished from world cricket?

You are right! These days we don't see many genuine all rounders. All rounder is the one who can get select simply just on his batting alone or just on his bowling alone into any team. But these days we don't have such players. Kallis was the one but with age his bowling has dipped down a bit. Only Angelo Mathews seems to be a genuine all rounder. But he still have to go far. And thinking about a player opening the batting and then the same player starting the bowling attack seems to be just a dream these days! Hope future generations will change this by their passion for excelling in both batting and bowling equally. Happy Mylotting!

Yes, those days were really enchanting somehow. Kinda romanticism you can say! Kapil Imran, Hadlee and Bothan were really fantastic all rounders. It is just surprising that what happened after that and why we are not having players like them. Lance Klusner seemed to be a good all rounder but somehow he didn't reach the level of those players and stopped playing. May be next decade will give cricket some scintillating all rounders who can mesmerize cricket fans both with batting and bowling. Happy Mylotting!

Dear friend, I feel if there where all rounders lots of things they could given to team. But still if a batsman is in itself once he is gone he is gone or blower if not best to his form it is gone. I feel all rounders are most needed in most teams. May be it has be though by the selectors.

Your point of view is correct.Indian selectors have been looking for that elusive allrounder, sadly domestic cricket hasn't shown any talent yet. I guess for the time being we have to be content with Pathan brothers. Ravindra Jadeja has just faded away.

You have missed out the no. 1 all rounder in the world i.e. Jaques Kallis. There is Kallis and then there are the rest of the all rounds. The Bangladesh captain Shakib is another guy who is pretty high in the ratings, though I do not rate him a genuine all rounder. All the others that are listed are not real all rounders, but people who do two things for e.g. Sehwag is a batsman who can turn over the arm for some time, but not a regular bowler!! Actually another player missing in that lot is Watson!! I think the requirements at the highest levels means that concentrating on both parts of the game is very very difficult.

i am surprised. why didn't they include paul harris? or even morkel? there is ofcourse zaheer khan. considering sachin just took a wicket after 2 years, you can include him too. you know when you see rating like and think it is MIGHTIEST OF THE MIGHTY icc rankings, one has every right to question whether to be proud or laugh at india being number 1 Test team in ICC rankings

I am not sure how ICC calculates its ranking for individuals, but it looks like they give too much of importance to last 5-6 matches. Thus it becomes easy some some bowler who scored an edgy half century to come into the ranking of allrounders.

ya now a days there are not many genuine all rounders. you have pointed a good thing. the all rounders like Flintoff, Kallis, C.Crains, robin Singh......... not having much good allrounders. now the allrounder are catagorised as batting all rounder or bowling all rounder. this catagorisation shows the clear impact of vanishness of all rounders.

ahhh.. thanks i had forgotten about Robin Singh. I guess Bravo can also be counted as a genuine allrounder. he bats 3 down & bowls in every match.

Well, i am surprised not to see angelo mathews in the top 10 list and sehwag, gayle and broad are not all rounders , i don't know what are they doing in the list. And shakib al hasan is at no. 1 i think and i dont think that he deserves the number one spot. Now a days there are only few all rounders left in cricket which are jacques kallis, shana watson, angelo mathews, bresnen, jacob oram, shaid afridi, abdul razzap i dont see anyone else. I am trying to find some of them in the list. Happy mylotting. Regards, harry.

I should have added that this was test allrounders list. May be that is the reason, Angelo Mathews is not on the list. No :1 is Kallis No :2 is vettori No :3 Shakib & No :4 Watson
