Hi All, I would like to share my views on God and would appreciate your guidance on if this is correct. I am not a believer of any religion or faith as they exist on the definitions. I admit these things are beyond my level of understanding and I have my own definition of God and Religion. My definition of Religion - "Love, Peace and Honesty towards all. It is about doing my duties with a belief that I will not hurt anyone and if in case I do, I take up the responsibility and would try to undo the hurt within my capacity." I find God in the following - 1. The beautiful, ever giving Mother Nature despite the occasions when Nature wreaths havoc on the Earth 2. When anyone helps someone without having intentions of being repaid - Maybe an accident on the road or maybe a small appreciation of the work or even a small guidance 3. Parents, Elders, Seniors - who are epitomes of Love, Care, Knowledge and always available when you need some suggestions 4. Friends, Relatives - who are by your side when even your shadow leaves you - lending you the much needed shoulder, cheering you when you are feeling low, and always ready to help you to stay on the right path. Many people would not agree with my definition and This Post Is NOT to hurt anyone's belief and faiths. This is why I have not put it in Religion Category. And I respect all religions... It is just that I dont find myself close to any of them. Regards, theSids.

hi thesids, i agree with you. i have done and feel what you had mention above. i just need to close my eyes and feel all the lucky in my life, how that happen is not an coincidence. i am sure that God had to do behind all of that. it is funny that i can feel Him whenever i close my eyes. while i open my eyes, all i can see is the world and the material inside it.

we all are need the human side to differ us from other creature. the human side-if we can see and reach it- also could make us solve a problem, no matter how big it is. but sometimes the material-i called it ego- sometimes make our view blur

hi ifa, Yes, I too at times feel lost in the material world with eyes open but then I think this gives me the chance to see what I am doing and becoming in real world - I can say - a kind of results of efforts to be humane - I think the results are my human side and they help me stay focussed.

Having read your definition of religion made me think that you are a religious person in your own way. I definitely agree with you in all that you said. I can relate in you on those things. I am just so happy that there are a lot of us who truly believe that God is always by our side.

Hi Simplyd, Sorry to get back on this thread late. I am not that religious as the world sees religion. Thanks for appreciating my views. On the conventional religious things, I see many people killing others, hurting others and all that in the name of religion. I also find it makes people more vulnerable as many get swayed from what every religion preaches - "Love and Brotherhood". So I dont think following any of these would help me find My God.

I dont know if i have got "divine eyes" ... but i do believe in god! I'm neither good nor bad and i'm quiet happy with what i'm! When i feel like helping poor ones then i donate all what i have got(ahhh i wouldn't deny saying that i have never been fooled though...i became wise over time and now i can pretty much sort out who are in real need of money). Just that some are elder or senior to me do not get respect from me...it depends on what they teach and preach!I dont think one has to be elder to love and care though...each and every human being express their love in different ways which might seem absurd to few empty nutshells! As of your relying on friends --- i would rather prefer to be all alone which i have been following for years now coz one who gets himself out of the bad times without relying on others would be a better man.My friends are always there to lend their shoulders just that they do not find me when i'm sad lol.Cleverly made discussion and nope i'm not hurt.great day!

Hi Sunnycool, The belief in God is enough to keep the things going good. The good and bad are both existent and need to exist just because we need to know the value of good. Also, we need to know what is being given to us - the advice or anything - we should not be following those blindly... if we did we would lose our individuality and would ever be a human.

I really appreciate your discussion as I am a Catholic, and would never impose my religion onto anyone as I show others who and what I am about as God intended to others, simply by who I am. I would be respectful enough to not continue at first sign of a person being opposite my opinions, at the same time if a person was head strong to try and impose their own religion and or non-beliefs I would very apt to either changing the subject or walking away. My definition of God is life, and by this I mean, I am a good nature person and would never intentionally hurt anyone, I do onto others with absolutely no expectations to get back in return. When I get, I am forever grateful and continue the generosity for a life time. I lay to sleep a very content person that I did my best with life.

There is no time limits to return and always a pleasure to see you around. There are a great many who start so many discussions in one sitting and never comment back. Then there are those that wait 3 weeks or more before commenting. so one day.

Hi there friend! God is everywhere! He is always there for us. We don't need a place to pray for Him. I do respect what religion each one of us has, what's important is,we only have one God to confide to. See you around!

Hi mtrguanlao, Yes, you are right - there is just one God as all religions teach the universal love and brotherhood. Just that I feel vulnerable when I see some(or many) people getting swayed from this path and start fighting and other things.

hi thesids oddly I am your first responder. because I was taken by what you said as I feel the s ame way. In the paper I used to subscrive to was a comic named Cowboy in the comics section. He would pray like this"God I reckon you real busy with those folks in the big church 'but I am most at home here. Just wanted you to know I really believe in you and In Christ,so if you have a minute for me I just want you to'know I aint afraid to pray on my knees . thank you For All YOu have done for me." This amused me and also made me feel that just because I do not go to church every Sunday does not mean I do not have God in my life daily. You do not need a fancy place,if your heart is with him he will be with you each day.I am like cowboy i n that I can worship each day wherever I am.

Dear Ms. Hately That is what fits my definition too. I too believe God never says that you come to me and pray out. It is the deeds that make us close and dear to God. And conveying our thanks to God is one way of telling Him - I am looking forward to getting more close to you the next day. Regards, theSids.

Thanks for the reminder. Though Hindu by birth I belong to all the religions and respect all. I have read the Geeta, Veda, the Bible and Quo-ran and in book what is said at the bottom line is the same. We have to love human beings and then only we would be loved by the super power. You love your fellow being would be worthwhile loving God. Kabir das wroyte : Na kashi, na quaba na Maszid me, Mujh ko kaha dhunde bhaiya hub to hei har sa.

That was a great set of information - that you have read all those Religious Texts. I have not read any of them but I do feel that all of them teach the same fundamental concepts - Universal Brotherhood and Love. But I saw people mis-interpreting these Books for their purposes and mislead so many people. That makes me think - Interpretations vary from person to person and we also are misguided many a times. Sant Kabir dohe are great as they are more about Universal God and I remember reading a couple of them too.

Hi Sid, Thanks for sharing. :O) I find your approach very healthy. My focus on the Divine--like yours--is in feminine terms--one reason why I avoid the title in your...title! :P Religion? Well, I consider religion to be what happens when politicians mention the divine. You're much more generous than I am about that. The matter of religion vs spirituality makes me think of what one "law smith" said when asked about practicing law: "I don't practice law. I do it for real." Still, political respect can do wonders--so, good for you, Sid! :O) Sunshine & Blessings, Giovani

Hi Giovani, Well I couldnt get the political connection with Divine. Reason: Indian Politics these days is in shambles and they have done nothing more than creating differences amongst the citizens. As I type this, I know some millions of people are insecure just because of their personal interests.

Hmm..I don't really concern myself with religion because my view of religion is that it reflects the people involved in it not the God they claim to perceive thru it, which, to my little mind, defines why there are so bloody many of them...And Christianity reflects the Christ and Saviour and creation reflects God. The last time I had been to church was for the baptism of a friend's little one to welcome her in, so to speak. Aside from that church has no use for me. When I was younger we were taught that God created everything..from nothing..ok. But as I got older I couldn't help but wonder where He got the nothing from since before there was anything else there was God..And I wondered (wondering aloud around nuns is not a good thing by the way) if He created nothing so He could turn it into something, which seemed rather ridiculous to me..And I wondered (aloud unfortunately) why He didn't use what He had on hand, which was Himself. So I also believe that God is in everything, without categories and qualifiers..Enjoy!

You are very right in your defination of religion thesids, no religion on this earth teaches to hate another religion or fight in the name of religion, all religions are based upon the same basic concepts.. but the so called godmen and godwomen disfigure it.. Thank you so much for this nice discussion. Professor ‘Bhuwan’. . Cheers have a lucky day ahead.

Sir, Honored to have your response on this discussion. Though I have not suffered personal loss of friends but many of us have, due to the misinterpretations of the Religion and God by a few of the godmen and godwomen and this is one reason I dont believe in such texts that can be misinterpreted and used to advantage. Regards, theSids.

I can understand you because i also have the same opinions about God.God is in every single substance in this Universe that's what i think .Your are right that you dont need to follow any religion to be close to him, just help everyone, help the poor, help the needy thats how you can get close to him. God lives in everyone,so if we do good to the people = doing good to God.

Jo Si, God resides in the minds of people and no where. We are so small. As we cannot see God, we kept them on the stones, wood, metal etc. It is just for a communication object. As you may be aware, God itself is a creation of human beings only. Look back, it is true and you cannot deny it. Crores of people living in this world in the name of God so that it is a must to have God for some group of people for their existence. God is an earning potential. A teacher can teach and earn, lawyer can do the same in his field, an engineer, doctor, farmer, a thief, a fisherman - all can depend on their profession and can earn their lively hood. If God is not there, those who are working for him will go where? Also, you should know one fact that half of the Indian wealth is heaped up by the religious societies over here. If you check the income of some of the main religions places will tell the story. If the wealth accumulated over their treasury is exposed, the Indian generation can eat food for another 10 years, without any problems. Sorry, it is not possible, they are collecting the notes, gold, silver and diamonds etc etc to please the Gods which is made out of diamonds and golds etc. Also remember that if you can give 10 kg of gold ornaments or 100 million dollars to Gods, we can directly go to the haven. Which world you are living? Your comments and thinking are so outdated and to be modified. So get ready and don't go to any orphanage or any where else. Get up in the morning at 4:00 am and go directly to any of the nearby religious place and if you can't stand on the Q, can bribe the authorities or give some 'extra' to the people there and can reach directly in front of the altar. And start praying, how to make more profits, how to cheat others, how can get others people's money in our pocket, etc. It is just a staring only, story or bhi he, we can meet on the roads some where, bye, bye, I am so sleepy. Good night Meera

Hi meerat Whew that was a long one indeed and I am thinking what do I say here... Hmm, maybe this one is correct - "I defined my own God and Own Religion" You say outdated - I say maybe, but for me it is easier and more satisfying and brings me comfort. You say - I wont be rich - I say I am already rich going by the peace of mind and the contribution I make in my own little ways - I cannot take care of the world but I can and DO care about some and that ability to do for some makes me. Did I answer the one you needed as I am still thinking how could I respond to your response.

Very glad to see your discussion and it does not matter whether any one agrees with you or not.I agree with you.You have rightly understood the essence of all religions.God is every where and it is for us to feel Him everywhere and anywhere and at any time.He is omnicient and omnipresent. He is the vision in the eyes, the hearing in the ears and thinking in the brain and the beating in the heart which are beyond human creation. We are all creations of God and religion is human creation and that is why there is so much discard in religion to religion. You have right attitude and understanding.May god bless you...

Here in the States we have freedom of Religion And freedom From religion. What you have described is more love and respect. I think all religions are trying to teach what you already practice, the golden rule. Do onto Others as you want them to do onto you. Me, I'm Jewish so I can't see G-d. In His purest form , I would be destroyed. The closest I can get is feeling His support , which I do. But Wanting to sit and talk seems very disrespectful to me.
