China makes healthier Water

January 7, 2011 4:29pm CST
I recently read that chinese scientists have come up with a way to make water healthier. They do this by removing the few molecules of heavy water (contaning deuterium, an isotope of hydrogen)from normal water to make 'light water'. Studies have also shown that this 'light water' can offer significant health benefits. Mice blasted with ionizing radiation had a higher chance of survival if they drank 'light water' as opposed to normal water. Plant also photosynthesis at a higher rate when 'light water'is used. In 2008, light water was given as a treatment for terminal cancer patients, resulting in a significant lengthening of the lifespan of the patients. What do guys think, would it be a good idea to release 'light water' for public consumption?

Its good and a fine discovery.I feel it will be only advantageous and not disadvantageous to try this new life enhancing discovery. The only point is whether it will increase cost of water bill so as to be beyond the reach of an ordinary person. It would be an excellent idea to allow this water to be consumed by the people at large.

The extraction is currently quite costly, but I think that perhaps it could be a new variety of bottled water. And it would also have the advantage of actually being healthier than normal bottled water. I also think that the people who currently buy the expensive bottled waters, would also buy this. What do you think?

I fully endorse your view and am quite sure that it will prove to be a healthy alternative to the existing expensive bottled water.Definitely those who consume expensive bottled water should consider this healthy alternative. Its a fine discovery and i appreciate your effort in highlighting it.Any water which enhances longevity and quality of life is most welcome.Thank you.

Interesting topic here. I would think it would be a good idea once enough people are educated about this. This would only be good for public consumption at places where water have been contaminated to the extent where it is fatal to drink. But probably not in places that are fine at the moment. It may take a while before people can begin to accept this. It is best to not alter what is not harmful to us. It would raise alarms and many questions to those who are living in areas where drinking water is not an issue. To sum it up. No I would not think it is a good idea to release any claims of healthier water for public consumptions without enough knowledge about it. However I would think its a great alternative solution that can be provided to areas where water contamination is greatly effected now.
