I'm having major troubles wiht gmail

Ok I set gmail up as imap as I access on at least 3 devices. That's fine but I also set up filters gmail side so it will filter without me creating rules on those 3 devices. Those sort of work but now when I send to email lists I see my own messages even before it sends to the list. They also show up in my sent items as well. I don't want this to happen. I only want to see them in my sent items I've tried sending from the web with the same results. Help please. I'm frustrated!

I cannot use pop as I check on about 4 devices and I need them all synced as some of the mails come in are for business purposes. This started happening when I set up filters to move mails for me server side. I've tried to et up a filter to remove my messages from the list folders but that created a disaster and I lost 3 years worth of sent messages. I need a solution if at all possible. Anyone here use imap?
