Maybe a Crazy Idea - But Still Can I Try It For Once?

Hi all, Most of you are aware that I am 36, always at home, not having a regular income and ill. No No I am not complaining or anything. This is for those who are dropping in and sharing their views. Ok, here is my current Crazy Idea I was looking on one video of a song and got interested in the costumes and get up (the fake jewelery or whatever) the guy was wearing some long necklace like chains, a big wristwatch and the jacket and the tee was great on him. And he was physically well built and that I mention because he could carry all those because of his physique. I am thin (you can see that on the avatar) and I know I would not look anyway good if I tried out that. But still I want to. Shared this with my wife and she said - You know how much that would cost? You are saving your money for a laptop, then your medical checkup scheduled in May just because you are unable to meet the expense right now and also who would look at you in that attire. She is logically correct and I know that. But despite all those, I want to try that for once at least. I also know if I delay on this, it may take a backseat and will get forgotten in the coming days... kind of become a thing of the past. Your Views, Suggestions, Advice anything would help. Cheers, theSids.

Here in the States we have this holiday called Halloween. It is in autumn, Oct 31st. It is a time of year where young and old dress up in costumes . Kids go door to door and ask for candy and adults usually have costume parties. my idea is to save your money after May til September and then get the outfit you want and wear it on Oct. 31st. Tell the wife your American Behen is celebrating Halloween and you are too , lol!

Hi behen, That is a better idea but I know the craze would wither away for sure by that time and I am sure I would find another such idea by the time it is my behen celebrating the Halloween... I should have seen that video earlier before the Halloween of 2010

judging by the way you related the story, i say you should go for it.:) i sort of feel like you are 85% into doing it and you're merely waiting for people to give you a thumbs up or tell you that what you are going to do is ok. and i guess it is ok.:) don't listen to me really. i'm just a young adult who knows nothing about budgeting or the needs of a household. hahaXD maybe you should talk more about it to your wife. find a set of stuff for her to wear too so she can join in on the fun. hahaXD goodluck thesids.:)

Hi greygoo, I wished I was prepared and all set. In that case it wouldnt have been here. I am confused at the moment and I know I should learn to prioritize... But sometimes the childishness and the desire to get something new within the boundaries of the house takes over. I would take a few days or more before deciding and of course my wife would be the consultant... and somewhere within I know she would win. I started this discussion to find out and get prepared for the discussion with my wife and try to be more genuine when I do that

Hi greygoo, Yes, I would try my best convince her to join in and we would have some fun for sure (if she agreed) and yes, the laptop can wait I can use the desktop no doubt for maybe another one month if my parents thought of doing anything like it, i'd fully support them.:) i might even buy the stuff for them myself I like that approach and thinking of yours... Keep it up

oh it's very important to keep those childish desires. it keeps our hearts young.:) really, try to get your wife to join you in this crazy idea.;) i bet you'll have fun together. maybe you should find cheaper substitutes to the stuff you saw on the video so the spending doesn't go out of hand. and maybe the laptop will have to wait longer. i do hope you get to do this idea of yours. if my parents thought of doing anything like it, i'd fully support them.:) i might even buy the stuff for them myself (if i had the money alright). hahaXD

Not sure if you have any thrift shops where you are. That would be a place to get this kind of stuff cheap. If there is something else you can economize in then maybe you could afford to do it. I am sorry you are ill. Sometimes when we are sick we need something to distract us and to look forward to.

Hi GG Your Idea seems to be great and I know these thrift shops are more in numbers at the place where I would be going for my health checkups - that give me a larger variety to chose from. We have a few here at my place but as they are few in number, choices are lesser. Also my place is not "much happening" in terms of fashion and the place I mention is ahead in terms of fashion - so I can find a few more add-ons. Waiting out for a few more months to actually get one for me would be a better idea - I can try those a few times if not more

hey sid this is your temporary craze...and what u should do is just try it out with some things lying around u in your house...(as i know today's fashion...and the way u have described u can give a trial with cheaper things and u can imagine yourself in that....(and i am sure u will not feel comfortable in that)....but still satisfy your desire....if i am not wrong those big chains are just like those used to tie our pets ...and the big wrist watch u can get in 20 Rs also...try them and u will find that i am good in my regular things...(don't think that i am trying to save your money and talking to your wife's side)...but that's the reality...when we try something which is not our style..we can't carry it and even if we do it out of craze the result is not good...but better confirm with cheaper things....this would be my suggestion...all the best ..actually good night ...according to India...tc

hi eshaan, Guess what - I too agree that it is a temporary craze and I too agree that investing an amount at this stage is not that worth... But this child in me is still on the high and wants to try it out. I know I am not going to use this get up(makeup) thing for long - just a try for a few hours or so and after that if I have purchased these, I would like ok now what do I do with those... I just got an idea while responding to Hardworking - better try to find out a guy or firm that rents such things and wear those for a real time feel and get myself photographed....(the photograph is to share with you all - how I actually looked and also for memories - when I grow older, I can look at that and say wow I did that one)

h.i thesids your wife is ri ght in practicality ways but wrong in carpie diem. seize the moment, Do it and get that wonderful feeling of trying it for once as you feel that need. Its a fun moment that only comes once in a great while. Get the right costume long necklace and big watch, and feel you look just as great as he did. the clothes are keepers and maybe you can give your wife the long necklace if you tire of it. just go aead and do it. something in you cried out for this aha moment, those do not come around too often. what have you to lose, and no it need not cost that much. costume jewlery can look great. and not really cost all that much. a jacket and t shirt are keepers. Do not by pass carpe diem as you will have that little nagging feeling why c ant I do something I want to do occasionally. do it you will not regret it

Dear Ms. Hatley, I got started getting into visualizing and it seems great... Yes, I would add the recommendation - "You can use the Necklace" and the watch can go on with me... to my list of points that I would discuss and try to convince my wife... Regards, theSids.

Hi Sid, Thanks, for checking out opinions. :O) I think everyone should play out their fantasies! :D I understand you're concerned about possibly seeming silly at great financial expense. Well, how about this, Sid. Buy some costume jewelry and second-hand clothes just to do a digicam photoshoot. Have a little fun with this. If you enjoy that, you can use those pictures to prepare you emotionally for the real thing. "Life," someone said, "is for the living of it." :O) Sunshine & Blessings, Giovani

Hi Thanks, In fact I have found good ideas on how I can go about chasing this thing on this discussion... I know they are not my type of actions but if i can try out something as crazy as this then I can also try out the recommendations on how to achieve it... Funny but I am all interested in doing so many things for sure... in the coming days.

Hi Sid, In fact, I didn't get the exact idea, on which what you are talking about. perhaps, I may not aware of the same or I could not make out what exactly you prepared to say. In short, I need an explanation to your initial post. What exactly the matter and what are you really talking about? I just got some clue and based on which I commented. But I am not sure what I meant is correct, now. Please give a brief on your subject, so that I can understand your mind. Thank-s

LOL, could not help but to read your discussion twice to see if I got it right. Okay your wife said who would look at you in that attire? The world and they would think it is funny! She is right about the priorities in life and although sometimes we want something badly we have to think about how to spend wisely. That is why you love her as she is a smart woman. Do not rule it out completely, keep that in your mental To Do list! Even if it is out of style and or no longer the in thing. Some day when and if you are able to and can get it then you DO! Remember we do not wear and or buy things because others do and or we are trying to impress anyone. You get it and then you say to yourself, I did it, I like/don't like but I did it.

Hi GF, I dont move out of the house much and so my wife thinks that no one would see me in that attire. Also I doubt if I can wear that out on the streets... people would surely start thinking I am crazy and insane... But yes, I appreciate trying out once out on the streets in the mall thing I had already set down my priorities and expenses thing as I am going to get my payout from my client this month and the Laptop dates are nearing... And suddenly this one out from nowhere... A better way is to calm down and wait for the right thing/moment... hmmm... I get the point...

My dear good friend, First of all i wanna tell you that those things or accessories are what they call BLINGS! Are you really serious of getting those ones for yourself or you just wanna try them out to see and feel how it would look on you out of curiosity? If you really want to try them out without spending a single money, then just go to a mall for window shopping, try them on and take a picture of yourself, trying out different styles of blings! It's free to try them out and you don't have to keep them if you see that they don't look good on you. And if you really like them but couldn't get one because of what your wife said, then a good picture will always remind you that at least you have tried it and well you own that picture too.

I'm trying to imagine how someone home with no income can truly afford to consider changing their lifestyle for an image, and one that's come back after 20 years at that! Rappers were wearing big watches and baggy clothes in the 80s, and the bling started showing up in the latter part of the decade. They didn't really get buff (except for LL Cool J) until more recently. And NOT everyone can pull off that look.

Hi scorpiobabes, I believe you are right. I dont want to change my image. It is just that i want to try out something that would get me some freshness with me. I also mentioned above that I know I am not going to look good and will not be able to pull off in any way given my slim/thin body frame. It is just that I saw the Video, liked the get up and it is a fancy thing.

Hi Thesids, Considering your financial situation, I think your wife is somewhat right on this one. I don't think you are wrong for wanting to try something new at all but just that your medical costs should come first. In the meantime, don't forget that this is something that you would like to try out. You could always go shopping and try on the outfits and get an idea of how they would look on you. It is free to try on the clothes. If you like the look then you can put it on your list of things to save for. It doesn't have to be real expensive. There are always thrift shops where you could put together a really cool outfit for really cheap.

thesids, we all have our illogical and irrational desires at times. :) We have good friends and partners only to keep us on route I suppose. :) Coming to your wishes, I do think your medical checkup ranks first, followed by a laptop, and then this wish. Where is the rush? For all that you know you might even change your mind about that in a couple of weeks. It happens to me...changing mind bit I mean. And bad times dont last thesids. Entire life cant be bad. Otherwise, nobody would live. There will be bad phases, no doubt, very bad as well. But I think there will be balancing phases as well... Everytime I pass through a bad phase, I remember words from an old Hindi song... Raat jitni bhi sangeen hogi, Subaha utni hi rangeen hogi, Raat bhar ka mehmaan andhera Kiske roke ruka hai savera (How dark the night is, the day would be as bright and colorful, darkness is only a guest for the night, nobody can stop the daybreak).

Hi Vandana, Seriously speaking, Yes, I agree with you and I should prioritize and learn that one at least if not much... To be honest, the last time I had such a bizarre idea - I had put it up here at MyLot - I wanted to let my hair grow in length - and it has been over a year now since I got them cut - a trimming once a month to keep them look same is all I have done.... Something new to happen after a long long time. The current one, I know I am not going to keep it on for long and the desire would whither away in the real time soon... Just needed an opinion if it was not something of silly costumes, and something a bit more useful then how to handle it... Yes, the bad times are for a shorter period and the lights would be on soon... I have learned to stay more positive in approach being here at mylot and sharing things, ideas... so much more.

hi mtrgunalao, A Video and what do I do in that? Some steps from this song that I watched? My wife would not speak to me if I mentioned this idea.... But on a second thought... I am sure it is going to be more fun doing that - The dress up
