There are some times that misfortunes and disappointments full our life, and we just cant be positive about that.
It's easy to be positive when everything is going right and we don't have any problem, but it's difficult for us to expect good things when we're living in trouble.
For me, when I'm feeling bad, it's easy to overcome the misfortunes, because I know that what happens to me, is not as bad as what other people are living.
There are some people dying for diseases. Other people don't have a people do not have a roof under which to sleep. Well, a lot of people are really living in misery.
For you, Is difficult to overcome the problems and be positive?
Please comment.

hi ricextreme,
You created a wonderful topic. About your question, my answer is YES, we should be positive about life. No matter how many troubles or problems we are facing we must still be thankful. As what you said, we must think that we are still lucky because some even faces heavier problems compare to what are we facing right now. Being positive makes our life more colorful. I believe that it also invites fortune and the more you think of good things, the more those good things come to you.

i agree that during hard times, we tend to feel sad and down. that's just normal.
but we have to remember that God won't test us if he knows that we can't do it.
though thereare situations that are really worse, we still need to get over it, learn from it, and see the good in it.
You actually won't feel that good just by thinking that other people have worse miseries. Instead, that would make you more stress and sorrowful.
Actually, overcoming problem is a bit difficult. But, being positive, it's just as easy as a pie.
I'm not trying to brag or lying. It's true.
I'm a young mother. I work. I help my husband support our family.
I encounter almost all types of problem all the time.
Financial, health probelems, family, relationship problem, my grandad just passed away last year, work-related problems, etc. But here I am, talking about being positive and giving your post a comment.
I guess what we all have to do is accept that this is life.
Difficult, yet beautiful.

"An optimist is a person who sees a green light everywhere, while a pessimist sees only the red stoplight... the truly wise person is colorblind." -Albert Schweitzer
I believe this quote is true. I don't believe we should always try to be overly optimistic, but rather we just need to learn to accept all things as they are. We can admit that some situations suck, but we should also remember what we do have. It's about keeping things in perspective.

Hello.
We need to be positive about life. This is the only way we can move on triumphantly. It is excepted that we will be having rough and tough times while on this earth but we should not wallow in darkness and contemplate on the sad, bitter experiences we have, we should take them as life's valuable lessons . :)
We should never forget, too, that God loves us and always been good to us despite of our shortcomings.

Agree with your answer, and want to apologize to you all, because I lost myself in the subject, and forgot to ask about any books that could help you being positive. So, if you could help me with some books. Thanks a lot.

Ya, It's right to be positive. And everyone suggests others to be positive. But in today's world it's very difficult to do so. The moment you turn on a news channel, you see some negative news. Everyday there is something you will hear negative. In such a environment it's difficult to always be positive.

For me when i have a problem and have done all i can to solve it but to no avail, then that's the time i will ask the help of others. That's my plan B.
On the process of solving the problem, i always stay positive. . that it could be solved in one way of another. Along the way i think of other plans on how to do it when the first one didn't succeed. In the end, my positivism works fine, but of course with the help of praying fervently to God.
I agree with you, that in having a problem you just have to think of those others who have a worse one than you. By so doing, you are uplifting your morale in solving it.

In life the best things to have are good health, good luck and happiness. In life a person needs to have a positive attitude and learn from any mistakes made. It is helpful to have a plan of what to do in life. I wanted to buy a home, pass my driving test, get a car, travel around the world and have a daughter. I have managed to do all of those things. I feel sorry for people that are in poor health and those that are leading a miserable life. In life I have noticed happy and content people in poor countries that are developing. Most people in the rich countries don't appreciate their possessions and comfortable life. Life is unfair sometimes and this applies to those dying of disease or homeless people. It is worth having dreams for the future.

Sometimes, it can be really difficult to be positive. I wish is were the other way around. There are days where nothing in particular really happened to make me feel so down, but it becomes difficult to do the normal tasks of the day. Sometimes, there are just too many things that are burdening someone that have no quick fix. Other times, we compare ourselves to others, and thinking the grass is greener, start to mentally criticize our own situations. It could be that some people are happy being pessimistic. I suppose, in a way, there is an optimistic sense to it, as you will more then likely be pleasantly surprised.

I think the best thing we can be positive about is life. the alternative is not something pleasant to consider. Having a positive attitude and feeling for life can enrich us more than we can ever know.

I always say I am an optimistic person but there are some times that I just get defeated by my problems sometimes. But like you, I also think that there are other people with worse problems than mine, and they're still fighting and not losing hope...so I stay strong and face my problems. It's also good being a Filipino since amidst all the problems we face we still stay optimistic and have a smile on our faces. I also believe that God won't give us problems we can't face.

Hi!
Sometimes it is really difficult to look at life positively when you are bombarded with so many problems and conflicts in life. It's difficult to see the sunshine in a cloudy day and just smile when you feel gloomy.
But in my case, i just sulk for a day and then smile the next day. There are times though that my problems would linger for weeks or even months, but there's no use thinking about it again and again and curse life because of it. I just try to be alone, think about it and then distract myself by meeting friends, writing in mylot and chatting to people around the world.

Hello.
I do my best to try to think positive even when I start to feel a little depressed;I know that I have to get rid of that state as soon as possible,so I force myself to imagine something pleasant,or I try to think that life is not that bad after all, that even if I can't get rid of all my problems,I need moments when I have to take life easier. So when I start to feel a little anxious about daily problems I try to listen to my favourite music,or watch a movie,or talk to someone online,or more recently spend time on mylot, and it usually works.Maybe I'm not very positive, but at least I regain hope, which is something we should never loose.

I do try to stay positive. Even when I'm feeling sad, or something, I still try to pick myself up and remember to try and be positive. I prefer being positive than be negative. I feel that it has more advantage to being positive and thinking positively. Sure, it's not always easy, but so long as we try.

It used to be very difficult for me to overcome negative feelings when things seemed to be going wrong on my life, but over time, one thing that I have learned is that, it seems that until I changed my thinking and the way I handled those difficult situations, I would go through them over and over.
It was around the time my first marriage was ending when I really began to change my thinking. By that time, I had been through a lot in my life and things just rarely seemed to go the right way. I was severely depressed and I saw how it was effecting my children. My oldest son even drew a picture of me crying with a smile on my face and put it on the refridgerator. This made me stop and think. My thought was, I had been through so many things that hurt and that were difficult, but in the end, I always survived. So, from that point on, that isd the approach I take when things get rough. I think, "Ok, this may not be easy, but it is happening for a reason, and you've been through a lot worese and survived. Why get all upset over it? Stop, pray, think, and figure out the solution." This has really worked well for me and made me a much happier person.

Hello! We should be positive with life because its better to handle any situation we are into when we are positive. Of course, life has its ups and downs and we can't avoid it but we could lessen life's pressure when we handle things lightly. They said that its hard to be positive when you're surrounded by many adversities, its true but counting all your blessings still, and looking upon the people around you, you will still be able to see that you're much luckier and blessed. There's so many people out there dying in so much hunger, deadly diseases and too much poverty, so if we're feeling alone and helpless, just take a short prayer and be able to thank God for everything and let Him handle your problems so you could stay focused and happy living your life. HAve a nice day ahead!

sometimes i wake up and feel sad or disappointed with my life but then i be positive^^ i think that we shouldnt be sad about life and we should try to be happy with what we have and try to make things better ^^ im sure that if we fight things can be better and right as long as we be happy and trust in ourselves and that life will be good to us. if we think bad things we will just feel depressed and that will destroy our day and makes us feel worse. we should try to be happy and think good always^^ no matter what happens we will be happy as long as we trust on it ^^

As a buddhist, we should be kind and do all of the good thing in order to get a good revert to ourselves or to our next generation.
We just accept the fact if we are having something bad.
Remind ourselves to pray more, to contribute more to the society and hopefully to beg the God to direct us out of those bad things.
We should always be positive in our life.
Too negative in our life can make us depressed and no cofident at all.

I have always been a positive thinker. It is my belief that when something happens, whether good or bad, it is always for a reason... something better will happen. When I experience misfortunes, I am ashamed of complaining since I see other people with problems which are worse than mine and yet they face it with a smile.
However, one time in my life, I also experienced difficulty in overcoming a problem. It involves not only myself but my family. I did not get what I was requesting my boss for. My boss could not understand that what I was asking for is not much of what I want but more of a necessity. I felt so down that time that I lost the strength to live. But as time passed, I realized that disappointment is constant in our lives. It is up to ourselves to find happiness and not to let disappointments ruin the life that we worked hard for.
Unless, we accept problems, misfortunes and disappointments in our lives, we will continue to, just like what you have said, live in misery.
