Passport to eternal life...

A visiting priest enlightened the parishioners about the relevance of the Sacrament of Baptism. He said that Baptism is actually a passport which we must take care of because we need these in our long and tedious journey to our destination. In Baptism, we have our names stamped in the palm of God's hands. And when we get to the final, God will certainly look if our names had been registered...

Great discussion! This is also why we need to take advantage of the sacrament of reconciliation, to be sure our passport is registered, do good works that cover a multitude of sin, and do our part to convert those around us by our actions. Words too if necessary. All the sacraments aid us in our journey to our eternal destination. Baptism is first and foremost, as it cleanses us to make us ready for God's grace to pour in. That is a wonderful way the visiting priest used to explain Baptism. Blessings and peace

Hi eileen leyva: I like the reflection of this priest. I think that baptism is the first step to heaven. Of course then we have to work to improve our love to God but baptism is really important if we are really Christians. ALVARO

I think that you are very right and that is one of the reasons that it was so very important to me to make sure that my children were baptized when they were little as I was as a baby. My husband made the decision to become Catholic in 2004 and he was baptized at that time as part of his RCIA. I think that everyone should be baptized and I'm very happy that our entire family has been baptized. In addition to that, I also go to Reconcilliation on a regular basis as well.

Hi eileen., Yes you are right it is a passport to god. and it is often called "the door of the church" because it is the first of the seven sacraments. and it is the priority. It is the first of the sacrament of initiation. The other two being the sacrament of confirmation and the sacrament of holy communion. and once baptized, a person becomes a member of the church. Happy Mylotting my friend.
