What's on your garlic bread?

I remember in my teenage years working at a place called Gino's Pizza. It was a very fun job, always doing something different, and made a bunch of friends. But the best part about the job that I was spoiled a bit. My aunt and uncle owed the store for 5 years. They let me make pizzas any way I wanted, loaded tot he max with toppings, and all for a small price of five dollars. Then one day a bakery moved into the store next door. Well my aunt decided she wanted to use there buns for garlic bread. Well what a great idea that was. The buns were delicious! I never used to like garlic bread from this store but once she changed the bread it was to die for. After trying some of the new bread I decided I wanted to put pizza toppings on it. After trying out different toppings I finally found one that I really enjoyed. Bun, garlic spread, dried hot peppers, then mozzarella cheese, then banana hot peppers, green olives and to top it off a bit of cheddar cheese to hold it all on. I absolutely love this combo, not sure why I guess maybe the sweetness of the olives with the hotness of peppers, and the creaminess of the cheeses. ( My mouth is now watering) So I am wondering what do you put on your garlic bread? Do you treat your garlic bread like pizza?

I'm such a huge fan of garlic bread *besides the bad breathe aspect of it all because I like a lot of garlic on mine* I always brush afterward s though. I'm pretty traditional about what goes on my garlic bread. I get a loaf of the freshest sour dough bread, Cut it down the center.... Load it up with lots of butter, Garlic and let it sit in oven for a good 10-15 minutes or until it turns golden brown, Whichever comes quicker. I think I'm familiar with the garlic bread buns your talking about. There is a small pizza shop around here who has something similar. I swear I was hooked on those things for about a month! Maybe sometimes I will add a little fresh grated mozzarella but it depends. ARRRR, Thanks For Making Me All Hungry now!!! Fun Post By The Way! Your Friend, Larry

I wouldn't say that I treat mine like pizza, although I do like cheese on mine. There's a restaurant I used to go to that puts three different types of cheeses on theirs. And strips of steak. Boy, was it dee-li-cious! Just thinking about it makes me hungry. But alas, most of their restaurants around here closed down due to the economy. It's too bad too, because they had some really good food.

I have noticed a lot of our old hang outs which were good home cooking type food have closed down as well. It is very sad to see. I used to love this one place with spicy curly fries, with 3 cheeses, and bacon on top. It was so good. So said to see it go. It's never the same when you make it at home either!

Reading this discussion sure makes me hungry as i am a pizza lover as well as a garlic bread fan too! I tried making pizza toppings on my garlic bread too and yes it was very delicious, and i made it all the time when i was pregnant with my son. I would stay up until 2 am watching a movie and eat that garlic pizza bread for midnight snack! It was really delicious and now i just feel like making one hahaha!

One thing I look forward to one day is being pregnant. And the reason is the cravings. I am soooo curious to what I'm going to crave. My friends tell me how sometimes they don't want the things they used to, and some say they wanted double amounts of the things they loved. I'm so excited to see what it is that will make my belly happy.

No, i like my garlic bread eaten as it is. I also like it eaten with spaghetti or stir fried noodles. I like it it to be eaten with a soda. I like it crispy too!

Mm I like mine crispy as well, I think melted cheese needs to have a little bit of crunch or browness to it. We eat garlic bread all the time, to us it doesn't matter whats for dinner garlic bread could be a side. I love my cheese!

The favorite thing I like to put on a garlic bread is a little melted cheese or some fresh pesto. These two, the pesto especially, just makes my mouth water with delight! The garlic spread and peppers combo you mentioned looks promising, I'll have to try it sometime!

Funny thing you said Ginos pizza. I know this place had been around for years now since dating my boyfriend and hes from up north in Rhode Island and im guessing you are from around that area as well. But anyways we went up north in September and we had to go to Ginos pizza as he eats a whole pizza to himself as this is his favorite pizza ever LOL. But onto the garlic bread. I buy these certain buns from the local baxery and i use them to make garlic bread. I use butter and then add the garlic bread spread that you buy in the seasoining area at your local grocery store. And i believe it turns out gret and is very yummy.

hi.. garlic bread, pizza... what is the difference. we use bread and doh. we put toping, cheese and any every other things.. the difference is the spread, garlic spread or sauce. right. So the other day I took a few slices of bread. spread some ketchup arrange some slices of hot dog. sprinkle some cheese. Put it in the toasted over for a few minutes and out comes out mini pizza ala Noorhizat :) You can do it with many variety of ingredients toooo..

Try it! You will love it. You don't have to try what I used, try using the toppings from pizza that you like. It will be a mouth watering experience that you will do over and over again!
