When it’s finally my turn…

I had to run to the bank to pay some bills during my lunch break, and like every time you’re in a hurry, there is always something that’ll slow you down. Like a line up to the teller!
So as I was standing in line, I kept thinking of the things I’ll do when it’s finally my turn. I wouldn’t bother with any pleasantries, I would have my card ready, I’ll have my pen on my hand, etc.
And then it struck me that this line seems to be familiar. Like when it’s finally my turn to get promoted, or my turn to find a better job, or my turn to be happy, or my turn to win the lottery, etc. And then I would be planning things to do when I finally get that turn.
How about you? Do you find yourself saying, ‘when it’s finally my turn’? At what circumstances do you say this? What do you say next? What would you do if it’s finally your turn?

At least you think it will be your turn. I never thought I would even get a turn. I preferred to just watch. You were in line , i never even went to the bank. I just assumed it wasn't Meant for me. So I never even tried. But it , call it luck or fate ? , Found me. Hang in there.it will be your turn.

I'm a rebel i guess. I think my first word was " No." And then then the next was "Why?" It isn't that I won't follow rules but I Need to understand why theser rules are in place. So I will wait in line unless I Nevr really wanted what was offered at the front of that line.
It Is your turn. My wish for you is that you take those steps to find your bliss.

That's the sad thing about me. Not only am I a bit pessimistic, I am also very 'obedient'. That when situations call for being in line, I don't hesitate and find my way at the end of it, patiently waiting my turn.
Maybe it will be my turn soon! Thanks.

Hi bounce. I'll say that I am really a thinker. I have lots of thoughts going on in my mind whenever I am idle, like when I'm on my way to work or on my way home, or when standing in line. There are times that stuffs like what you mentioned cross my mind. Like what would I do when it's my turn... However, I try to push these thoughts away because, weird as it may seem, I believe that there is a jinx when you anticipate something so much. That it's not gonna happen. So I just try to wait for my turn and deal with it when it has already (and actually) happened. :)

I consider myself a 'thinker' too. I also have tons of stuff go through my head when I'm idle. The difference with me is that I try to think of all the possible negative scenarios. Usually, what really happens is something I never thought of. So, if I already think of the bad things that could happen, I may just be surprised if it all works out in the end anyway. Thanks.

How is my favorite 'bro today? I am always wondering "when's
my turn"?If I bought a lottery ticket and won
big, I'd have a heartattack and die! So the what would be
the point? (back to the negative discussion again). I just
guess I will be asking that question until "that" last and
final question gets answered and I'm in no hurry to ask that
one!

I often say things like when will it finally be my turn? I am a good caring person and I always go out of my way for people, and I keep saying when will that come back to me and have my life be a little easier. I have said this as well I will do this or that when I lose weight, well this year I decided I want to try to do less of this, because that someday may never come and I don't want to keep waiting.

Sometimes I use that as an 'incentive' in trying to be good all the time. I know that I could be a caring person, and go out of my way to help others, because at the back of my mind, I could get that 'break' in life and it'll be finally my turn. Maybe I'm just impatient, but I also have hope that I'll get there.
We'll get there aurorastorm! We'll surely get there erikmama!

That's deep :) I like what you write in here.
Indeed, Its really exciting to know if its your turn.. It's like, its your time to shine.. Its like in love.. if you've been in an unhappy relationship and then suddenly one day you'll wake up and say, "No, I deserve better that this.. I have to be happy.. Its my turn to be happy now.. "

You really made me think with your posting. :) Actually, I often think of stuff to do "when it's finally my turn". Like most people want - have a great family life, be able to savor life's greatest, being able to help, become a better person, etc. - its the same thing that I want.
I find myself saying this during times when I am down. Like its something of a revenge or a "comeback". Its not that i don't have a great family or i'm not a good person. It's just that I want all things right now to become better. Well, who doesn't?

Hello gabrielle429. First off, welcome to myLot.
With your first line, in your response, I am grateful, because not only have I succeeded in making you respond to this discussion, you've also satisfied my original intent. Which is make people think.
I know that everybody here have the same feelings, the same wishes, and the same wants at the back of their minds. I just hope that discussions like these help people like you remember that.
Thanks.

hi bounce in my bank as i am 84 and using a quad cane I am in tthe vip line and am waited on at once and pushed down onto a chair, and when I am through then I go shopping at target store. My Bank is Bank of America and I have been wi th them for many years.I wish it was my turn to win the Publishers Clearing House sweepstakes. I could do with some great luck in my life.

I guess I'm still not qualified to go to the VIP line or the senior citizen lane. So in the mean time, I just grit my teeth and suffer through the the bank line ups. And maybe, while in-line, come up with parallelisms in my life which I could then turn into discussions here in myLot.
Thanks Hatley and binggaling.

Funny I was just thinking something kind of like that last week. I rushed in to the insurance agency and I'm waiting patiently...during my short lunch break....and the lady in front of me wants the only receptionist in the joint to go over her entire insurance policy with her I go ahead and have my check filled out and signed...I shift from one leg to the other and think...I'm just going to toss it on the desk and go....I don't need a receipt...lol...but I waited. By the time I got to the desk...I was just thankful to be there at that moment.

It always happens! When you're are pressed for time and you're in a line up. Just when you think that you're the next in line, the person in front turns out to be the one that takes forever to finish.
Glad that you didn't loose your cool and patiently waited for your turn!

It seems to me that each time I am at the grocery store and or retail store that requires me to be in lines, this is exactly when I think about all this.
See I can try and outsmart the lines by moving from being the 6th in line to a cashier who only has 2. Long and behold the previous line I was in takes care of 10 while I am still the 2nd in line. LOL..
It is at this time that I say to myself, of course just like life, nothing fails to amaze me how I am always last no matter how many times I try to out beat. Ugh.

Unfortunately for me, I don't switch lines. I always think that if I switched, there's even greater probability that my original line would move quicker (which isn't true almost all the time).
So, I suffer and wait, instead of second-guessing myself on other line.

Hello,
This reminds me of yesterday when i went to the bank and got the number 75 and the last number called was yet 43. There was no line at all as usual everyone is sitting waiting for each number. But me , i was not just sitting at all but sleeping as well. hehehe. I slept sitting for almost two hours waiting for my turn and i care less of how i looked at then. Just this time i left my magazine and the articles that i recently printed. When i woke up, i asked the inside guard and told me its 73 and i'l be the next after! Its nice wake up call! At last its my turn! haha
Happy mylotting!!

People and institutions tend to have ways at getting around standing in line. And getting a number is as good as any. At least you don't have to stand. You could sit, and sleep if you want to.
Of course it's even better if you get a wake up call, just as you did.
Thanks.

That's great actually. But you can't always come out that lucky you know. We often need to stand in a queue. If the queue is long and many persons standing before us, it's going to be a bit frustrating. However if you have something to think about, or something to eat or a friend to talk to, time will fly.
