I have a question about book storage! I am an elementary/preschool teacher who is currently not teaching. I have TONS of children's books that I've acquired over the past 5 or 6 years to use for my job. Right now I have all of these books stored on a book shelf. I want to somehow pack them up though and use the book shelf for books my husband and I are currently reading. Any suggestions on storing children's books? Unfortunately children's books are so much harder to store than the typical adult book because they're all shaped so differently!! Any ideas are appreciated :-)

So so true Jenn... children's book come in all shapes & sizes. Great for the kiddos but not so great for us parents/teachers who need a convenient place to put them all! I have no bright ideas myself so I searched and found this that might help... http://glyphs.gardenweb.com/forums/load/paradise/msg081345552718.html Good luck & happy myLotting! :)

I think you can store them in boxes; first you can sort them by their size and shape, and then put in some boxes. Or maybe you can donate them to library or to school. Certanly, they will appreciate your effort. It's a good idea?

Well, I have no intentions of getting rid of the books. I'm early on in my career and will be teaching again. I'm just not certified in the state we're currently living in. Will definitely get another teaching job when we move back to our home state.

I would suggest using something like the plastic Sterilite storage containers like you can get at Walmart and other big-box stores. There are a number of different sizes and some of the largest ones have wheels. I have several different sizes that I store all sorts of odds and ends in and I have three of the large wheeled type boxes....two of which I'm using to store a large portion of my DVD library in. They're pretty durable and will keep your children's books safe from dust and other elements.

Hi... hope you have already gotten the best answer but here i want to add my choice. You can sort out all those according to size. Then you may keep them in cartoons. It will be available on grocery or material shops without cost. Bring them and put all those books but don't forget to put some medicines so that any insect cant damage books. have a nice day.

you can build a directory of the book.sort in alphabetical order or category. you can buy some transparent plastic boxes, side of the book has the title, this easy to find.
