if you're staying in the California area, then I would recommend the Monterey/Carmel?pebble Beach area as a place to visit. You should also consider a trip to Las Vegas--there are a lot of cheap flights from California to LV. And from Vegas, you can travel to the Grand Canyon or many other cool places. But if you are looking to travel further in the US, I would strongly recommend a trip to NYC--there really is nowhere else like it in the world. And then you could take a train north to Boston, or south to Washington DC. Wherever you go, there will be things to see and do. Have fun wherever you go!

I live in Europe and on the way to other countries I have been to California and to Hawaii. I loved going to San Diego and it must be an even nicer experience in the summer time. I really enjoyed it in Santa Barbara and went on a cycle ride there. It has a gorgeous looking beach. In Los Angeles I found Venice Beach to be very exciting and Disneyland was very much fun. I adored it in San Francisco. I flew into Los Angeles and traveled by train plus bus. I stayed in youth hostels.
