It is becoming increasingly clear that the pakisthani trio will be proved guilty. Both Butt & Asif have been giving conflicting statements, thus proving their wrong doing.
Experts feel that butt will get the harshest punishment, as he was the captain. asif will get a stiff punishment too as he was banned earlier due to other reasons. But most feel that Amir will get a lenient treatment due to his young age & clean record so far.
All Pakisthan cricket fans are hoping that Amir plays WorldCup.
Is it fair that players get different punishments for the same offence, or does Amir deserve a lenient view ?

I do believe in giving people second chances. But there are times when people have to be made an example of. For example Mohd. Asif has time and again flaunted with the rules and has still been playing for long. He needs to be given a life ban. Similarly, captain Butt needs to be given a life ban because the role of a captain has to be above suspicion and if you do misdeeds in that role, then you cannot be pardoned.
Aamir can be considered and given a lighter statement, but then it should with the sternest warning that the next time around even if a 17 year old is involved in such an act, he/she will get a life ban!! Otherwise the bookies will start interacting with younger players knowing that they can only get smaller statements.
Cheers!
Ram

You are spot on when you say that , lenient punishment to youngster will only encourage other youngsters.
What surprises me is that there are still so many Pakisthan cricket experts hoping that these players will be available for world Cup !!!
Haven't they had enough of Asif & Butt ?

Going by the rules of law and incidents of the past , Amir may get lesser punishment than Butt or Asif , simply because if his lawyers are able to prove that he was forced /influenced to do spot fixing he wont get the punishment equal to the one who actually planned it which can be Asif or Butt.Back in 2000 Gibbs got much lesser punishment than Cronje as he was influenced but the plan and execution was of Cronje .So Amir can get away with lesser punishment and not a life ban.Though its unlikely that he will be playing world cup

Dear friend,
If they have done offense and if it is proved they have to punished. If not punished I feel it would be encouragement other players to do the same. Moreover those who watch this game are also cheated if that game is fixed with illegal methods.

Pakistan Cricket is still in the troubled water. The controversy of match fixing and match spot fixing being taken very seriously. If the accused ones are proved real guilty I think they should be punished hardest of it for it would increase the earlier gentleman's status. Or else people would feel with the help of money and political power they have go Scot free.

Nope they shouldn't give a lower punishment as they have done very serious crime in cricket and make the cricket very dirty they should give a strict punishment so it become a lesson to other player not to indulge in such type of crime. Seems ICC will going to give a strict verdict might be life ban from cricket.

All three of them should be given the harshest punishment possible because it would be a lesson to all the other players....Amir should also be not left he should have not get involve in this thing .as he has just started is career he should have inform the PCB of match fixing then he would have done the right thing but off course he did the wrong thing and should be banned for life
