What the heck? I tried going on youtube today but found that I couldn't sign in because I didn't have a Google account. Since when did this happen? Luckily I can still view videos and such though. Or is this just me and no one else has this problem?

When youtube was still young, i was able to register with them without using a gmail account. Although i do have a gmail account and every time i login to youtube a announcement will show telling me to link my gmail account to my youtube account.
But still i did not like this, so i just declined it.. I guess if you're a new member better have a gmail account, its a prerequisite you must performed.
Thank you and Happy Mylotting...

The reason (if I remember correctly) for the cross linking between your youtube account and gmail account was to make things simple and cut down on registration accounts. I can either sign in with my gmail account or my older youtube account both takes me to the same account at the end of the day. They just tried to make it simple in my opinion for users.
