Hello again girls, when i go in websites, where they show different kinds of make up, i just love to see the heaviness of the smoky eyes effect ... it looks brilliant. I really love the result if the eyes are blue, green, just light colors looks amazing when the eyelid is dark gray or nearly black. Now i have at home so pink shadows, some brown and little green. I think to mix everything and to see the result. I'm sure that i won't be able to make it as it is on the photo models (my eyes are brown), because the eyes look great if whole the face got make up, not only some shadows and maskara. Even so, i decided to experiment only with my eyes and to check if the final example is good. What colors do you use to make your eyes smoky? Have you done it for yourself? happy I know it's heavy make up, usually used for night parties or so, but still if i can even go little closer to the smoky eyes, i'll be happy.

Like you, this is also what I want to achieve. I've tried wearing smoky eyes before but because maybe of lack of make up primer, the make up doesn't stay long and leave this racoon eye effect. One of the techniques of cleaning up the mess your smoky eyes might give you that Tyra Banks taught in her show was to put a medium to huge amount of powder under the eyes to make it easier for you to wipe if it smudges. If you're blessed with a really great skin that can hold the smoky eyes make up then go for it. It doesn't even matter if you wear it daytime or nighttime as long as you caryr it well. Good luck! Show us some pictures when you're done with it.

I see. You can just use the best products. They don't have to be brandy or expensive so choose wisely. I can't tell you about the brands 'cause what might be available in my country might not be in yours and vice versa. Anyway, in addition to achieveing the smokey eye wear, I hope you take good care of your skin too like exfoliating. FOr example: applying egg white on your face for at least once a week. It could help smoothen your face plus it's natural. =)

Thanks for your advice Rainbow, i've never watched tv shows about that, only online and pictures, advices too. I don't have full set of make up, as example i don't have powder at all, because it will make my pores closed and my skin won't be able to breath. I don't have so good skin, i got big pores and powder will help me only to have more buds in my opinion, nothing more.

Thank you hun, i made before masks for my skin... Apple with honey and after that lemon juice. It was good for my skin, more soft and nice after using the mask. I have to start doing it again.

One of the big make up companies is now selling smokey eye kits. It shows how to do it on the commercial (you can see how much I pay attention to commercials). It does have Kate Hudson as the spokesperson. i am going to try it out and see if it works. Provided i get some cash for my birthday.

All of the companies use that, because the result is so so great when it's done as it has to be done. I hope you will have success

The smoky eyes effect is outstanding and lookes amazing. I have tried doing this myself but im not to good at doing it. I feel i have to much eyeshadow on when i do it and feel awkward and weird. I do this only when im taking pictures on a cruise or getting really dressed up for some party or something of that nature of course. I use a dark gray with glitter and then a light silver glittery and sometimes on the bottom part i will use a brown first before using the gray and silver. I try to just stick with two colors during the day at work and then at night if going out i will add some onto it to make it look better and of course fresh. I have tried to do some different colors before but dont do it to well. I have seen many pictures of Christina Quilera with great eyeshadow on but i dont feel i would be comfortable in it.

Once on of the friends of my boyfriend, she is a girl, make whole make up on my eyes - lipstick, blush, liner, maskara, shadows and the effect was amazing. She even used one little old maskara, which was nearly dry inside, without cream, for making my eyebrows little darker. And that's when i understood that the good make up can be liked only if it's whole make up, not just a part of the face. She used powder too, but in my opinion powder is doing something bad for our face skin, because my pores are big anyway if they are closed with powder, it will be worst. That's the first time when i liked myself with that pink-purple colors and the last time. I just don't have so much make up and when i do it, i don't feel good, don't like the result also. I don't have grey colors of eye shadows but as soon as i can afford, i'll buy that kind. I'm moving step by step with my make up, most of the time i buy really cheap little bottles of polish for nails, because i don't make so much my face. Soon i bought black liner, i had only green before, so step by step i can fill my bag with nice colors. Thanks for sharing.

I do wish I was a better makeup artist! I have tried and tried to do this, all sorts of different colours, but it ends up looking awful and makes me look like I should be standing on a dark street hahaha!

My beautiful smoky eyes.. LOL, this is what most who know me offline call me. Yes I do create my own look after the years of taking so many pictures for the charity, where as make up artist have done them for me. The idea is to go from dark, to darker to light. Charcoal black is the best color to create the effect and yes to be worn mostly in the evening. Nothing nice about a smokey eye girl early morning. You can create smokey effect with other colors but it does not give off the same effect. It is fun to create our own look and experiment, as this way you know how it looks and what does not look good. So when you have that one special day you know exactly how to do it.

Yes, that smoky black color is so great, may be gray and other colors like blue mixed together and slowly moved to the other side of the eyelid. I'll try it.

I have brown eyes too!! What I've found is that purple, and brown eye shadows bring out my eyes the most. I don't do the whole smoky eye effect too much though as it's seen as too "fancy" for an everyday look. But to do it well and have a lasting effect, make sure you use eye primer. I use Urban Decays and it's amazing, it makes sure the eye shadow lasts long and doesn't come off. Also a smudger for eyeliner helps as well.

I always explain to my boyfriend that purple and brown are great colors and stay wonderful mixed together, but i've never had purple shadows so i'll take as soon as possible. I love the combination between olive green and purple too. Looks so so so amazing to me
