I just read that some in the community that knew the suspect knew he needed help. He was a withdrawn person who told some people he disassociated himself from his parents. We had a young man in our community whom many knew had mental issues, he went down to Iowa and murdered people, yet when the family asked for help before this happened, with the support of others our state said there was not enough proof to get him the help he needed. I have seen this happen time and time again. I know two autistic boys whose parents tried to get help for their children that were turned down during their elementary school days. They floundered in the educational system producing low functioning children until they reached the age of 21 when the social system finally said they need the help we can give them. They both had a high IQ. But it's too late. One thinks the crime world is more lucrative (his words) and the other lives in his little cave of a room playing his game station. They are lost souls with nowhere to go.
