The Arizona Shootings and Gun Control Laws

The news is reporting that the person who is charged with the shootings in Arizona obtained the gun legally. Should stronger gun control laws be passed in the United States? Why or why not?

Here in india it is very very difficult to get one legally, but smulggled stuff are used by criminals, they are available at lower cost. thanks for this post kalyani

It is our constitutional right to "bear arms" to protect ourselves. That should not be changed. WE don't ban all cars when someone is purposefully negligent and kills someone by driving under the influence. We don't ban matches because someone is stupid and starts a fire that takes lives and homes. We cannot have a knee jerk blanket action on this either. Perhaps stiffer laws on those who do things like this -
