i have encountered this machine online but i don't really understand what it actually do for you. It looks like a washing machine or something but since its name is water softener..my guess is it softens the water. Well, here in my country, i don't really hear such term as hard water or soft water. We soften our laundry through fabric softeners but water? we filter it. Does filter and water softener are the same? does anyone know about this? would you help me out please and explain what's a water softener will do? i guess waterboss is a brand but the actual machine is actually called a waterboss. i would really appreciate your help. thanks.

Hard water is water that contains a lot of minerals. If you have hard water where you live, mineral deposits can build up on your faucets and in your tub or shower. It can also lead to deposits forming inside your pipes.
A water softener is a machine that takes calcium and magnesium ions out of the water and replaces them with sodium ions. There's a bed of plastic beads or a chemical matrix in a water softener that's saturated with sodium ions. When water passes through, the softener swaps sodium ions for the calcium and magnesium ions. Eventually the beads/matrix get full of calcium and magnesium, and the softener mixes up a batch of salt water and refreshes itself with sodium ions. If it doesn't refresh itself, it will just stop softening the water.
