My 13 months old baby is still not walking on his own..

I have a 13 month old baby boy. When he was 10 months old, we started training him for walking.. walking in the park where he sees other kids older than him running and walking and playing. He is a brave boy, He can take little steps without me holding him.. I thought he would be walking on his own by the time he turns 1. But then, On his birthday he fell down, face up. Before this happened, he was standing on his own and playing.. I wasn't there, his father and a friend was looking after him. He cried big time.. After that incident, its as if he is afraid to let go of my hand when we're walking. the second I let go of his hand, he sits. instead of walk towards me.. What should i do? Any of you mothers there have the same dilemma?
