When buying a guitar...

what influences you most? The way it feels and sound, or simply the brand name? Would you buy a guitar if it sounds the way you want it and/or the feel suits you, over a brand that that you really like (or well known)? I mean, would you buy a cheap-no-name-guitar over a fender or ibanez (given you have the money to buy them still), because the feel suits you or because you like the sound (regardless if it's a crappy or unknown brand)? Or you'd rather buy a well known brand guitar because of it's resale value and the other guitarists would envy you for having one, even though it doesn't really suit you and/or it doesn't have the sound you want?

I've always wanted an acoustic, which is kind of why I started the PPC system of making money. I'd like to save up so that I could get a Martin or Dreadnaught. Gorgeous guitars and great sound.

It might take a long time with pennies. Good luck! Those are both great guitars. Do like Taylor?

Have you gotten any closer? It doesn't matter what kind you start out with just don't give up. Have you learned any new chords?

Nope...haven't given up, but haven't got much further. lol I find now that if I concentrate on slicethepie.com, there is pretty good money to be made if a person can pump out some good reviews and keep up with the spread on their rating systems. I'm up to over $6 in just the past couple of days already and am now making 10 cents per song that I review. I'm very close to being in the top 10 for Canadian reviewers...only a couple of more percents to increase and then I should be making 15 cents per song review. After that...it's 20 cents. That $1 for every 5 songs that I give my opinion on! lol That's gonna be awesome! Best site so far if a person can type quickly to pump out the reviews/ratings. The only issue with that site is, one wrong review that could seriously effect the accuracy (percentage) and knock a person down from making 10 cents per song to 5 cents. Ouch! It hurts the gut to see it happen...but it does happen. lol I haven't really had a good chance to pick up my electric lately. These "money making" sites seem to be taking up most of my free time, plus my daughter's 1st birthday is tomorrow, so we had a party this past weekend for her...while we were all battling really bad colds and coughs. I'm hoping to find a couple of hours this weekend to grab it and throw on "Learn and Master Guitar" dvd. It's pretty in depth and teaches a person everything they need to know to learn the guitar. Chords, tabs, etc.

I've been playing guitars for over 40 years, and I have played cheap guitars and high priced guitars, and name brands don't mean anything to me ! Some of the best guitars I have played are low priced cheap ones! And I make the same amount of money playing a cheap one, as I do playing a high priced expensive one! to me the most important thing about a guitar is the feel of the play action! The guitars that I play just about play themselves, doesn't matter to me what it cost nor the name of it either!

Right now the best playing guitar I have is my Ibanez SRX, It just about plays itself, but the best guitar I have ever had was a Squire, that was even better than this Ibanez, It was so easy playing, people thought I was a good guitarist, but really the guitar played so good and sounded good that It made me sound good ! I lost it to a pawn shop, in 1992! I have had Fender Telecasters, Jaguars, and mustangs, they played good, but cost a lot of money! Right now I also, have a Fender Stratocaster, but it is not my favorite guitar! I just happened to buy it from a friend of mine that needed money, he gave me a good deal!

That is a great attitude. With all rust experience what was your favorite that you played?

You don't choose a guitar, the guitar chooses you. Price range is the first thing I look at, since I can't be a "money is no object" kind of guy. I play several different guitars in my price range... the one that feels and sounds the best while I play gets to come home with me.

I have a no brand guitar and I like it. The guitar name is Hofma. Have you ever heard that brand name? I haven't elsewhere but by the time I bought it, it was the cheapest guitar my father can afford to buy me. My first guitar was bought by my father when I was 17 because I have an outstanding result in school. Then my second guitar I bought when I was working was an acoustic guitar which have a built in jack. The brand is Santa Cruz. Also not a branded name. I bought it just because it is the most I can afford but I still like it. My third and last guitar I bought was an Ibanez. By that time I finally can afford to buy a more branded guitar. But until now I still won't afford to buy a Fender and Gibson or other similar standard guitar. So the next time I buy a guitar, I will buy an Ibanez. It is affordable and I love the feel and sounds. For me Ibanez have all the package I needed. A good quality guitar with an affordable price.

it depends of what you want to make, or if you want to be a lead guitar or a rhythm guitar, so it's very important to know that a guitar, expensive or cheap, is nothing without a good amp, and buying big brand guitars like gibsons and fenders is good because you can have that guitars for year and thay will still being great and won't lost their good sound caracteristics, but they're hard to find because they're too much expensives and hard to find in some places like where i live.

What influences me the most would be the feel and the sound of the guitar. I've played plenty of guitars being a player for 8 years now but I would say that it has always been about the feel and the sound. I have a simple I have both a squier Strat and a Fender strat and while the Fender plays better there is still something about the squier that makes it fun and it just has a good feel to it. I was about to buy a Galveston guitar just because it was one of the clear glass guitars and I loved the way it looks, but Galveston is not that well known. Though if you could get it to have the right set up and maybe swap out hte pickups then you could benefit from it both in the way it plays and feels and the way it looks. Regardless of the brand. So all in all, it has always been and will always be about the sound and feel that you can get out of your guitar.

I look at all of these things when buying a guitar. I absolutely loved my Epiphone electric. I have no idea what the model is, but I believe it was a 72 Kalamazoo issue. It was some little thing in need of repair that was given to me for free, but I have never had any other guitar fit so perfectly in my hand and against my body like that loving machine did. I got a cheap little off brand as my first electric. It was thin, but a solid body and, unlike the epiphone, I had a great deal of difficulty even reaching my hand around the neck. I loved the sound, it always came through the amp, clear and crisp, but the weight and the thickness of the neck just made it a pain in the rump so I sold it. I do, however, LOVE my daughter's First Act acoustic guitar. It was cheaper than this little Chinese import that I once bought. Although each instrument is a 3/4 scale and has been re-strung with Slinky strings, the two instruments produce an entirely different sound. The First Act is beautiful, and produces a clean, crisp sound, while the other guitar puts off a LOT of "twang", and really has a country-western sound.

Brand first. There wouldn't be anything cooler than having your own signature Gibson or fender. The first thing I look for is the brand, then style I like and last is the color scheme I want. I don't care how much money I would save by buying a knockoff because nobody cares. I want reputable and reliable followed by awesome. Do the last paragraph is closest in description to me. I guess I am superficial but at least I am honest!
