We the Bengali totally lived upon the rice. I think all the Bengali people like eat rice at least one time in a day. I like to eat rice two times in a day, one time the time of lunch and one time at the time of dinner. Some time what I had to go out from house for working purpose and if I not able manage rice and I had to eat any other food that I it seems to that I have not eaten any food. Some time at the time of winter season in house other members like to eat bread but only for me my mother had to cook rice.So friend I think you can guess how much I like rice. With out rice I can not able to live in this world.

Like you , we Filipinos have rice as our staple food. It is always eaten together with our viands every meal. It makes eating complete. But as for me, i only eat rice during lunch and dinner. For breakfast, i eat oatmeal and 2 slices of bread and coffee. We don't have time to cook viands in our house in the morning because we have to be early to work. But given the time, i like to eat rice too in the morning, because i don't easily get hungry as the morning rolls on if i have eaten a meal with rice for breakfast.

rice - a bowl of rice
Actually, I'm from the Philippines and a lot of people here eat rice 3 times a day or every meal excluding snacks. I think this is in our culture that every meal it must have rice for you to call it a nice meal. As for me, I can eat 4 cups or more of rice every meal (breakfast, lunch, dinner, and sometimes snack..it depends on how much my stomach can take).. I don't know, but I guess I can say that I'm really really full if I take a lot of rice. It's not a problem for my health because I'm an active person and the rice I ate will be burn. So , how bout you guys, can you take this much rice?

I live in the U.S. and we do not eat rice very often. It is usually a side dish to a dinner. My kids don't like it but I could actually eat it with most meals. I enjoy plain white rice but we also make spanish rice, fried rice, broccoli rice, and others.

You are absolutely right. Rice is our main food in the Eastern part of India. But that's not true for India only. The more you go to the East along the south east coastline of Asia, you will find people preferring rice over anything else. This is good as this region of South East Asia has suitable climatic conditions for growing rice. In Philippines people prefer rice and fish like we do. There are other foods like meat dishes, vegetables etc. But rice is the main food in these countries. I need to eat rice every single day. I don't mind eating rice 3times a day. However I usually have breads, curries and milk at dinner.

We are almost the same. Here in the Philippines, we also live on Rice. We eat rice three times a day. In the morning, in noon time (lunch) and in the evening (supper). We love to eat Rice with salty dishes like fried fish or chicken, Tinola, Adobo, beef steak and other delicious native dishes here. The only threat to Rice here are the noodles being brought to the Philippines by the Chinese businessmen. People with poorer economic status now survive on noodles, they cannot afford to buy rice.

Hi buli23, I am from South India(Andhra Pradesh). Even we live on rice totally and rice is our staple food. We eat rice mixed with other curries, rasam (a kind of soup made with tamarind and water)and finally curd. Without these it will not be a complete meal for us too. India particularly South is main dependent on rice as food. Northern part eat more wheat as we do not much. Generally it is what is cultivated and grown more in our part of country will become our staple food. As Northern part of the country cultivates more wheat and it becomes their food naturally. It is applicable to all the countries and parts of countries. Happy Living Calpro

Besides eating rice 3 times a day , we also make a lot of snacks and appetizers from rice especially the sticky variety, perhaps a hundred variations like pop rice, cooked in coconut milk, with brown sugar, with ginger, with meat or seafood wrapped in banana leaves, endless.. our culture is practically dependent on rice.

Filipinos can't live without rice. Even those Pinoys abroad living the life in the host country is longing for Pinoy food which consist mainly of rice. It is the only food I know that can make me energized. Bread is not enough no matter how much I eat, I always crave for rice. I think Asians have the love for rice.
