I got 3 dogs a cat and 2 birds. 2 of the dogs go beserk when there is some celebration going on with firecrackers. Anyone got any tip on how to calm the animals without totaly druging them? Could you train them and how?

I don't know if you can train them not to be fearful of loud noises but I have three dogs and they are all afraid of loud noises. I just try to reassure them when they are frightened. I try to put my hands on them, just touching them, letting them know you are there and that everything is ok, speaking gently and softly. Your dogs will look to you for reassurence and to see how you are reacting to the noises. If you remain calm and in control they will feel much better.

That would be great wouldn't it? But you can't keep them on forever. When your dogs become accustomed to hearing loud noises maybe it won't be so bad. My dogs may hear a loud noise in the neighborhood and will run to the door or windows and try to see what it is, all the while barking like crazy. Then they will just go on about their business. And believe me, my dogs bark at any sound. I wish I could break themm of that. But on the other hand, no one could ever sneak up on us or get into our house. I'm sorry to hear that your dogs are so troubled after so long after the noise. I don't think that is good. Are they puppies?

Oh , that was our dilemma every New Year. Our 4 askals (local dog) who were in the garage scampered into one corner of the garage out of fear. The two play dogs with foreign breeds were inside the house and scampered under the table. LOL
