The invention of computer means to speed up the work efficiency and save our times. They really do, but at the same time, computers are also invadding in our lives. We have no more newspapers for we can read the news online;no more cinemas for we can download movies from internet;no more pens for we can type and "write" with keyboard;no more calligraphy for no one would like to do handwriting;no more realfriends for we are now accustomed chat with strangers on the other side of optical fibers. Maybe we can choose to read a book, or to go out for a walk,or to write something with pens, or just to open the windows and feel the wink from seashore. However, onec there is a computer, all the plan would be ruined since we are prefer to sit in front of the computer even if there is nothing to deal with it. Dear friends,do you have such experience? Are you kidnapped by your computer?

Oh yeah, this happens to me a lot. I'm so addicted to my computer that I always install some new game in my laptop (or old games that I can't get enough of, then uninstall for hard disk space reasons) so that I can do something with it. Actually, thereason why I'm on mylot was because my boyfriend knows how much idle time I spend in my computer, that he thought i ought to do something productive with it. I'm so attached to technology, especially my laptop which i nicked-named Ory. I have my laptop with me when I go on vacation or an overnight trip. It's like my laptop has been my sleeping companion. Can't sleep without it (unless of course I'm doing something more fun in bed). There was a time that I was so addicted that it seems to me that I can hear yahoo messenger or skype prompts even if there isn't any at all, or I'm far from my laptop. I try to deal with it by not turning on my laptop at night. There was even a time when I didn't bring out my laptop from the bag on a 5-day vacation! I was having too much fun to enjoy the soltitude that Ory offers. A balanced lifestyle is what we need to avoid this or to stop this habit. We need to do something that will occupy our minds so that we can be pulled away from the computer

Everythings have two sides. As you said, the computer have maken our lives and works more easy. We can get an enmail in seconds other than wait for several days for the information of our friends and beloved ones. It let us from different parts of the world more close. It saved lots of papers and make it cheap to see a movie. But on the other hand, we spend too much time on computers and chat heatly with a stranger, or maybe a liar far away. Let this person influences your mood, smile or cry for such a person. While we may ignore the friends and family members in our real life. It is a sad thing. Of course, because the existence of the computer, so many kids rust their text books and get indulged in games or other things. Which is bad for their brains and bodies. Actually some kids log in those bad websites and degenerate finally.

When it comes to using my computer, I exercise discipline. I use it most for my work responding to my clients, adding to my blogs and website etc. I like to take a break every now and again, just to stretch and move about, and I quit working on it each evening to be with my family. _Derek

Hi oahcne, On the contrary, the computer has freed me from the hazzle of office procedures and paperwork. I spent more time on other tasks such as roaming around after putting up a few hours of work. Very unlike during the time when I was tied down to my table with a pen, paper, calculator and a typewriter. The computer can do all the things of these four office equipments and then some more in a very short time span.

Hi oa! You have an interesting point to make that many of us have become slaves of computers and execute many things with the help of computers like connecting with friends communicating with relatives etc. Doing sundry things e.g. making bank/credit card transactions through computers. Today's generation is not aware how a hand written letter looks like. We should come out of our computer enviornment and should meet others in person to know about them and what is happening all around. Good Post!

The computer is pretty much my life. I use it for my job and I use it to communicate with family, do schooling and play games. I'm always on the computer 24 hours a day sometimes but unless i'm out with friends or something then that's the only time I'm not on the computer. Which this whole week I barely been on the computer at home only for like an hour because I been busy every night. But I like when I'm busy because then I'm not tempted to get on the computer at home. I hate being on it a long time but I get bored at home so the computer gives me something to do.

Hello oahcnehs, Kidnapped ? He he, not really, but yes i do feel the bus cable grabbing hold of me and not letting me go! When the computer grabs me, i just can't let myself go off of it. But, that doesn't happen too often, fortunately. I love to spend time with my friends and girlfriend. I go out a lot, my poor computer can't get a hold of me then. :) Sometimes the powercut saves me from my computer too.

Yes,I admit that sometimes I am kidnapped by my computer, especially now that it's winter in my country and I have no desire to get out after I finish work,so I spend many hours in front of the computer, and even more now that I've discovered mylot, and I must admit it's hard to imagine a day without my computer, and I agree with you that computers invaded our lives, but in some respects this can be a positive thing;for example,if you read news online instead of buying newspapers, this means that less trees will be cut to make paper.Anyway,I am kidnapped by my computer, but I haven't lost contact with the real world and I'll enjoy both of them.

Yes, I agree with you. It is true a bit, we are getting (sort of) kidnapped by computers. Since computer has given us thousands of opportunities and ability to complete work for which otherwise we had to go out of home, for example, paying bills, making reservations, shopping, news, music, video, movies, earning, etc. In a sense it has stolen our capacity of mobilization. If we want our work done, we can sit on a computer and get it done. No worries. But what are side effects? We are developing a habit of immobilization which has many severe effects. What will happen if we will not at all need to go out for anything. For banking, there is e-banking; for reservation, there is e-reservation; for movies, they can be downloaded; for shopping, there are e-shopping, and so on. There is no need of going out of home. Everything is in reach with a computer. But have we thought about the results, the effects that are are there coming with the use of computer? I wish there was some software for jogging in the morning, for exercising, for medicines. In conclusion, there should be a limit for use of computer. It should not interrupt our health in any sense.

well in my own experience, I wasn't kidnapped by a computer hence I was hypnotized out of it. Before I had touched a computer back then when I was a kid, I was very out going, adventurous kind of a person. Today I was a mere computer addictus, addicted not only to computers alone but to other gadgets. Since it had happened already, there's no way to stop it but we can reverse it by instead of using computer as a source of senselessness, make it as a source of information and multi-tasking. I admit that I was very hypnotized by the computer but I managed to counter it by using it to good and not to senseless evil. We can still escape by going with the tide, but it's our own choice on how we can reverse it from bad to good.

I wouldn't necesarily say that i am kidnapped by my computer. I do spend a lot of time there though. There are other things that I could be doing. i enjoy my time on the computer. I could walk away if i really wanted to.

Computer maybe already became our life. Most or All of us uses computer for such purposes like gaming, reading, social networking, downloading, etc. There are also new products which we will be able to write words just by dictating them. Just imagine how can we be so advance that we don't need to use our certain body parts anymore.

Well, I read books, occasionally write in pen, and have more real friends than virtual ones (for now). But I still feel the computer has taken over my life, because I read less than before and I don't get together with my friends (face to face) as often as I could. The benefits of computers and Internet are great, but sometimes they don't help you save time, but waste it. I'm not technologically gifted, to put it mildly, so when there's a problem with my computer, it might take me the whole day to fix it.
