After NU107 signed off, another big thing happened in our music industry, particularly in Pinoy Rock community as BAMBOO disbanded. It makes me wonder what's happening behind the scenes of OPM Rock bands. They've been one of the best bands since 2003, due to their sense of music and versatility and now, they left.
It's a sad story and I am a big,big fan of them since they hit the stage with their music. I hope this is not the end of PINOY ROCK.

The music industry will still survive, I think. They left an inspiration and showcased a great sense of music that many or some people may relate to. It's like the "Eraserheads" band, they got disbanded and the people were thinking of what will happen to the music industry. But there's still a lot of cool Filipino bands out there though, so in my case, I don't have to worry. OPM music will live.

I'm sure this is not the end of Pinoy rock band, Bamboo is one of my favorites since I was in college in the mid 90's I think the Bamboo before Bamboo left the band is way better than after his come back. If the name Bamboo is mentioned the songs that comes to my mind is the song 214, kisap mata etc while his new songs such as tatsulok may be good but didn't seem to have the same effect to listeners as the previous songs. But I think the bands decision to disband is for bamboo to have his own direction just like what Ely Buendia and Rico Blanco did which sad to say didn't make them more famous.

Hi ybong!
Your post is a bit confusing because you seem to be referring to Bamboo the vocalist only and not the whole band. The first band which became popular in the 90's is of course Rivermaya which was fronted by Bamboo. He left the band and came back not to be a part of Rivermaya again but to form a new band named Bamboo. Of course everyone in the Philippines know that but I just wanted it to be clear because, well I guess I'm OC.

Thanks for correcting me. I just realized it today that bamboo, the person was the lead singer of river maya way back in the 90's and they're a great band, in fact one of my favorites. When he left I thought it was the end of the band but thanks to Rico who inspite of his not being able to belt songs as high as bamboo, composed songs catchy enough and became hits as well but personally I really think that the void that bamboo left was never filled and whenever river maya performs people can't help but request the songs that bamboo made popular, i think that's also one of rico's frustration because although he has a great voice there's just no way he can sing 214 or kisap mata as good as bamboo will. Bamboo on the other may have thought that he's the main reason why bamboo is popular, well that's just my observation because when he formed his owned group it never became as popular as the original rivermaya.

Hi mrclay90210!
Just based from your user name, I believe that you are really a big fan of the group Bamboo. It's sad to hear that this great band had finally disbanded, but if we look closely to the rock scene, this is not unusual anymore since we already heard and experienced this before through other great band such as Juan dela Cruz, The Dawn, Eraserhead, Rivermaya (though they have signed up a new Lead Singer but I think they could not replaced the artistry of Rico Blanco).
Is this the end of Pinoy Rock? Absolutely not. I believe out of the band Bamboo, a new group will be formed and hopefully achieve what this band had attained (though based from our experienced, there was none who have done this).
As Pepe Smith always say, Rock and Roll!

I dont think Pinoy Rock will collapse just because Bamboo decided to disband. There will be younger and more eager bands and solo sockers that will carry on the torch, and there are established ones too.
Same fears were raised when Eraserheads disbanded, and look what happened. When The Dawn became popular in the 80s, I thought they were just an aberration because they seemed to be the only Pinoy band back then that have original music. When they disbanded I thought well that was it, but I was wrong too.

It always happen to a band and Bamboo's is not an exemption. I think what we lost is the band not their music. Sooner we'll have another one who can play and give us the same kind of music of Bamboo. Let's wait for another one to sprout!

i am a fan of pinoy rock too and that news bothered me too. i am so much into bamboo's songs and his band yet i should accept the fact that nothing is permanent in this height of time. as much as we want them to stay intact we can't decide things for them. what i did now is just listening to their music everytime im at home. that's my way of remembering them.
