Last week we heard on the local news that a baby was found dead in a dumpster. It's been a very long time since we've heard a news story like that, because a few years ago they set the law that a woman could leave her child at a hospital, fire department, or police station with no questions asked.
So, since this baby was found, it's been front page news around here.. and very tragic. The medical examiner has yet to determine the cause of death, so the public doesn't know yet if the baby was dead before it was placed in the dumpster.
Today, this news article was published: http://www.9wsyr.com/news/local/story/Mother-of-dead-Liverpool-infant-found/-nVAxAAM30uQtoFqVcf1iw.cspx
They found the mother of the child, she's in the hospital being treated right now, and they've yet to charge her with anything because they haven't determined the cause of death.
What's shocking to me is the mother's age. Dumping a baby in the garbage is something you'd expect from a scared teenager. No.. this woman was 29 years old!
I'm not saying it's okay for a teenager to do it.. it's wrong and heartbreaking no matter what the age of the mother.. I'm just astonished to discover this was a grown woman who's about the same age as I am.
This is currently all the information there is on this case. They have not released the woman's name, or anything else. I am hoping that they discover that this woman has serious mental problems, it's the only way I'd expect her to do something so awful! I also hope, regardless of her mental status, that she is charged for something, even if the child was born dead. No matter the circumstances, that was the absolute worst way to handle the situation! It truly does break my heart!
What are your thoughts?

Yes, I hope they discover it was still born.. that would make this slightly less heartbreaking.

I think it was a horrible story in the first place and thought the mother had been a shocked teenager. I am so surprised to hear that the mother was 29 years old. That is usually a responsible age to became a loving parent. The mother must have serious mental problems. A lady could easily take her baby to a fire department, hospital or police station. Then the baby girl could have been adopted by a loving couple.

I think with all the options available there is not one reason in God's green earth to dispose of a child like that....I know she must have something mental for anyone in their right mind wouldn't treat a baby like that...what a way to end a life...so very sad!

i say you are right about usually its a scared teen. so either this woman is seriously disturbed mentally or she has a partner thats forced her to do it. im actually hoping it isnt just a rotten woman. maybe her spouse or whatever forced her. let us know if theres an update.

I'd rather hear that she is mentally disturbed than hear she has a horrible spouse. Even if a spouse forced her to do it, I still don't think that any sane woman in her late 20's would do such a horrible thing! If anyone told me to do a thing like that I'd immediately call the police!

I dont think anyone should hope that another party has forced her to do it Bunnybon. No woman in her right mind would do this at all to her own baby. Even held at gunpoint, I'd rather be shot than do a thing like this to my baby. Some people are just a danger to be walking the streets.
I dont think its really anything to do with age these days either. There's so many confidential services out there for young women. I work in a sixth form, and we have people coming in all the time to give out pamphlets and advice, and theres free confidential counseling etc. So many options, that if a girl found herself in a situation, she wouldn't need to speak to her parents or family at all if she was scared to, because there's plenty of options available. Also, I think that with the way of the UK, it is horrendously almost a 'fashion' trend to have babies whilst still in school, so the more I think of this case, the less surprised I am that the mother was not younger.

I find this so distressing. I hate child abuse with a passion. I suppose because i was abused myself. I am supposing that she has a mental condition to make her do this. You pointed out all the options she had so she must be unstable or something. Anything else would be pure wickedness and yes, she should then be charged. These poor babies do not deserve to be treated like garbage.

Agreed.. it has to be a mental disability or something. I will post an update as soon as I find one.

This is heart breaking. I wish there was a way that people could get more support to prevent situations like this, but I guess people make bad decisions because they are scared.
I am surprised at the age of the woman, though. With age comes wisdom, that sort of thing.

That is what surprised me too. A 29 year old woman should be smater than this, and more mature. I wouldn't have been surprised had it been a girl under 20 years old.

It is not the first time it happens, but it's shocking none the less whenever it does. This week it was a 3 year old boy who was killed with the stick of a broom by his mother's boyfriend. The 6 year old brother was present when his brother was killed, an age when he will be able to remember the tragic events. The boyfriend was looking after the two kids while the mother was at work and he was well known for being violent!

lack love in the world.
I dont understand someone act like this.
It is a total lack of respect for human life.
If she doesnt want the child...she can simply deliver to the orphanage...This case is unfortunate.
Nor the beast does this with the pups.

I met a woman once who had been a throw away baby. There was a scar that encircled most of her face. Apparently, her mother had tossed her into a garbage can, and a food can had embedded itself into her little face. She was found and rescued by a relative.
Parents who toss their live infants away to die need not only charged with murder, but child abuse and to experience forced sterilization, along with parenting classes and mental health counseling.
There have been cases where infants die at home, from SIDS and illnesses... the parents freak out and bury the infant themselves or toss the little angel's body to the garbage. I think that in those cases, the guilty party or parties should be charged with abuse of a corpse and forced into therapy.

Oh that's horribly sad!
I agree people who throw their babies away in such a way should be sterilized, among other punishments. Save future babies from the same fate!
I still don't understand why it's so difficult to just call an ambulance when something so tragic happens!

It is a shame that we still live in a society where babies have to suffer such violent indignity. The mothers of these children seem to get younger all of the time. How long can such needless crimes go on?

This mother was not that young.. most woman already have a full family at the age of 29. I'd already had 5 children when I was 29, and they were all perfectly happy and healthy. I'm 30 now, my oldest is 13, my youngest is 3. Even as young as I was when I had my first I would never have dreamed of throwing a child into a dumpster for any reason!

There are millions of people waiting and waiting to have even one child! There are also those who pop out a new baby so they can be on welfare. And then there are those who abuse, neglect and even kill their children. I could go on and on about the oddities in life that dumbfound me. Young people who die from cancer and elderly wondering why God just doesn't want to take them home yet! May tomorrow be a happier day for you.

Even though I am 16, and I do not have children. The thought of a young child having its life cut so short and the mother just dumping it makes me mad. I feel like the mother could have atleast tried adoption. Atleast the mother will be getting help, because she is going to need it. May that baby rest in peace.
