There is generic stuff for everything from q-tips, medication, replica of products/brands.. to foods. But do you buy them?
Personally, I don't buy generic items/food/stuff/replicas because I feel the quality for brand name stuff is better. Generic items are cheaper by a little but in the long run I feel that brand name stuff last longer and is better for you. They have a brand for a reason, but what do you think?
Do you buy generic items or brand name? Why or why not?

I buy generic brands for certain things. Wal-Mart's Equate brand is really good. I also like Great Value. They taste the same, but just cheaper. I usually buy brand name only for things like clothes, electronics, etc.

I never really tried Walmart's generic line but sometimes I see generic stuff more expensive.
Thanks for sharing. :)

It depends. Some generic items are very good and also some are not as good as branded items. When my wife bought a prescription medicine, she chose the generic brand. It works a treat for her, yet she saved 20-30% from the equivalent branded one. When it comes to buying groceries like food, we prefer the reputation of certain brands but surprising many generic (supermarket branded) items are very good. We're also using some generic brand items, such as generic branded cling wraps, they are equally as good as Glads, we saved money. So my opinion is that even though you may dislike the brand, it's no harm to try it. If you don't like it you can go back buying the branded one.

I buy a lot of generic items in the stores. their prices are usually more reasonable. i don't find that generic products are of less value. Sometimes they are more.

Some store brands are actually the same product as the name brand products. A factory is only allowed to manufacture a set number of brand products a month. Any overage becomes generic brands but they are using the exact same product for a lot of it. I watched a documentary "How is it made?" and it told of this. Not all generics are the same quality. I personally do not shop Aldi. I know a lot of people like it but I find their food is smaller and has more chemical additives that I am allergic too. To me, that is cost inefficient to buy something that would make me sick. Products that are name brand but often sold generic are bagged sugar, ravioli, frozen pizza and salad mix.

I do buy generic foods since the inspection of food guarantees purity though not necessarily quality. I will try generics and treat them like any other product if I find a good generic I stick with it. Laundry detergent is one area where I buy brand name because the brand name is superior.

I partially agree with you about purchasing generic stuffs. The more named brands and label do carry their name so they avoid being linked to poor products which must be the main reason why they produce good quality ones. But sometimes even those which has no name or not well known at that can surprised you with a good buy.
