Why do men/boys like Xbox so much?

I DO NOT understand it. My son is in school only half days. He gets home about noon everyday. He will literally play on Xbox Live for hours on end. I have to practically pry the controller out of his hands, especially on school nights (which he must stop at 7:00). I was lucky enough to "be allowed" to watch one of my programs on my DVR for an hour this evening. And then my husband plays on the other Xbox in our room all night long. What is the obsession? Don't your hands start hurting? I would think it would lead to some pretty bad carpal tunnel.

I have no idea besides sit being a great console. I personally have an xbox 360 and it so fun. It is for men because of level of maturity. It has a lot of shooters and lots of blood that entice boys that its fun. I love shooters especially the COD series and some other games that just bring it to my mind psychologically.

It's not just for men. My daughter and I play on the Xbox360 a lot (daily for hours) too. We rarely watch tv. We're more the Halo type than COD. We also love Plants Vs. Zombies and Borderlands. Usually we look for games that have local co-op so that we can play together. There are bonding moments with another person when you can find a game you both can get into.

Playing video games is fun. Maybe you should try it too so you'd find out. I play Playstation 2 everytime i'm doing nothing at home. It helps me relax and enjoy when I'm bored.

I'm not sure. I get bored with video games pretty fast. But it's not necessarily a bad thing that they like to play. There's been studies that indicate that those who play more video games have better problem solving skills.

I just think that the xbox 360 is so addictive and the graphics on some of the games are fantastic. It's another form of escapism I guess. When you are playing the xbox 360 you are indulging in fantasy and you get to be anyone you want to be for a short time period. I guess it can become an obsession when you devote so many hours this and it starts to conflict with other areas of life.
I suppose there is a risk of contracting Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, I think that's what it's called. I think there has to be a balance, the same with anything in life. I think that I'm out of date now when it comes to games consoles as I still only have the playstation 2 and this is quite old now. I love gaming myself however but I don't spend that many hours playing games, perhaps one or two hours. Andrew

I dunno, but it drives me nuts! My husband comes home and attaches himself to either his computer or one of his game consoles, and that's pretty much it for the rest of the evening. I like playing video games, too, but I swear my husband and those games have a parasitic relationship of some sort! They latch onto his hands and suck away all of his time.
I think I'd rather head out somewhere with a camera than hole myself up in front of a screen all day... LOL
