I must say This has to be the first time I've heard of a Smoker who has a problem with others smoking around Them! In My experience (As a Non Smoker) It's more often the case that it would be an Ex smoker or a non smoker in that position...When You say He used to smoke where no-one could see him,do You Mean He used to be a Secret Smoker,and has only recently gone public?

I think smokers are the most insensitive person around. They don't care about the people around them and just puff and smoke to their own delights. This friend of your ( is he your friend ?)thinks he's different from the rest of his kind because he smokes when there's no one around. But it's the same and he has no right to fret and complain. I don't have friends who smoke now, they have stop this bad habit!
