If Facebook asks for membership fee, will you still be interested to continue...

Will you still be interested to join facebook if you have to pay for its membership? For me, it somehow helped me a lot to get in touch with my friends. But if the asking fee is too high, I may be discouraged to continue patronizing them. How about you? How do you feel about it?

No, I would not stay with Facebook if they started to charge a membership fee. In todays economy where you have to decide what is important to pay for, such as some people are at points of either buying groceries or paying bills it isnt an option to pay for something like facebook. Times are tough right now and I can only indulge in things that are free which is probably why I have been on my facebook more lately than before. But it is cheaper to type in a comment or two with friends online than to pay the gas prices lately and meet for lunch. Sadly I wish times were better and that we could afford more but for now, until things get better, I can enjoy little things like facebook for free thank goodness!!
Happy Mylotting.

People indeed patronize facebook now because it is free and it helps us connect with people who are important to us.
I too would not spend much on social networking sites. If FB would ask, then I'll just find another similar faceboon.
Thanks for sharing

If Facebook's membership is not free, of course I won't join there. It will just be a waste of money even if it just cost me a penny. I could live without Facebook.
I am now bored of Facebook, maybe because I found Blah and myLot.
But Honestly, Facebook already helped me in some of my problems. Like if I am still a student, I'll just enter Facebook and ask my classmates the homeworks.

Honestly, before I used friendster but it's not widely used and did not reached as much as what fb has achieved. With fb, it feels like that my cousins abroad and long lost friends are just near you. I really hope they will not make a move of asking for a fee at FB.
See you around.

okay, my previous comment can't be posted because of error processing.
If they charge it to high, I probably will not be interested to join. Lately I can't use the application so I can't play, and I also seldom use the notes etc. Besides, there are many social networking media. I also heard that Zuckerberg want to close facebook on March, 15th, is it true?

No, it's a rumor. There is absolutely no reason for them to close facebook. That would just be crazy.

It depends on the asking rate or price to pay. If it is reasonable, why not since I am taking advantage of the social site on posting my blog. But if FB would ask too much and my friends cannot afford to continue, then it will be useless to do the same.

Yeah. They are earning much already. They are brilliant to be able to think of it. It would be more brilliant if they give back to their members by doing what mylot has achieve, paying its users. Don't you think so?

It's a good thing that there are other good options. We just need to maximize the resources online. Anyway, should that case happens, we'll just have to get all the contact details of our relatives and friends at FB. Then that way, we can still get in touch with them through e-mails.
Happy mylotting.

Good afternoon! :)
Facebook has been helping me a lot in contacting my long lost friends, relatives abroad and co-workers. This is the only social network that my older relatives use. They don't know or never use Friendster, Myspace or Orkut so I am so glad that Facebook is here for us to communicate with them.
But if Facebook asked for membership, maybe I should go back to conventional way of communication, telephone or mobile phone calls or maybe yahoo messenger.
Or even snail mail if it's the only way. Sometimes, it's good to go back to whatever past has to offer. :)

It depends on how much the cost was per year as well as how many of my friends decided to pay the membership fee and were active on there. If I found that the majority of them had just migrated to a different site then I would go there instead rather then pay anything for a site where not many people were still members of.

Hi snowhybiscuis,
Its same like, if for using yahoo, gmail chats or mails if we ask to pay, we wont use it. Because i feel they are essential services which should be done as public benefit and not a payable one. I will leave my favorite FB site for sure.
Enjoy mylotting
Cheers!

Hi visavis. I would do the same too. I will leave facebook if they charge for an amount.
Many already commented that they would do the same. So this discussion would serve as warning to FB to keep their services free of charge. lol. Anyway, they are earning so much already for every visits they get. At least here in mylot, we get to earn, giving back even for a small percentage to its user.
Regards.

For me, there will be only one answer that will come out of my mouth...Thanks, but no thanks...They have already made millions of dollars, if not billions per month, and yet they are still asking for membership fees...That I think is inappropriate and defies the importance of the user for the longevity of the site...I think then I will go to other social networking sites that still make their user first priority...But, that is gone to be happen ONLY IF Facebook ever ask for membership fees...I cannot see them going for that in the meantime, so I will just continue the good life! ^__^
