I have recently gotten tired of paying for my cellphone every month when i hardly ever use the thing. So I was looking for the best plan I could find, I found a plan at at&t thats $2/day only on the days that you use it, its unlimited talk and text. I was thinking of switching from my monthly verizon plan and going to the pay as you go phone. So my question for the discussion is, how often do you use your cellphone?

I can understand you taking a pay as you go plan, but do you really talk enough to justify $2 a day? That totals to $60 a month. At AT&T, there are some iPhone plans that go for that price, giving you 450min per month and unlimited texts, with unlimited internet. Be careful with the pay per day plans. For myself, I have a HTC Hero. I spend 15GBP per month on a monthly rolling contract (no strings attached, I can terminate whenever I want) and I get 100min/month, unlimited texts and data plan, or unlimited minutes and texts with a 100MB data (which I use in the months that I am at home/campus a lot, where the WiFi takes care of the data need). I suggest that you look for a little bit more and see for a better plan, because from my perspective, you aren't getting the best deal. Best of luck :)

The $2 a day is only charged if you use the phone that day, so if you use the cellphone 3 times a week, 4 weeks in a month, 4*3 = 12 12*2 = 24 thats 24 dollars that month. In a normal month for me I use my cellphone maybe a maximum for 4 days out of the month, so thats only $8 for the whole month.

ahh I see, then that makes a lot (read A LOT) more sense. Apologies if I seemed a little brash in my previous comment, but with the new point of perspective, I'm happy that you have the opportunity to take advantage of such an offer.

Wow, that sounds like a great offer. So does it mean that if you use the phone everyday just to make or answer one call you will have to pay $60 for that month? I use T-mobile. And I won't say its plan is that nice. I like the metro pc. They have this deal where you pay only 45 bucks but can have unlimited calling and texting. Most probably even the Internet charge also covers that much. My dad uses it and I actually used his phone to go online. T-Mobile charges a high for Internet connection. The only reason I am still using their service is because I am getting that school discount. It is like my university has connection with them for which I get that student discount. Also they have great customer service and the upgrade to new phone is free after two years contract extension. Otherwise, it is really a waste of money.

My ex has a verizon prepaid phone that is very similar. BUT he has to pay $3.99 a day to get unlimited talking and texting. Its kind of weird how it works because they have three differnet plans that you can choose from. I believe he tried going with the at&t but it didnt work at his home. Neither does the verizon prepaid but I'm guessing the at&t one was a little more expensive or he would have switched.
