ipad or laptop?????

i'm planning to buy a new gadget, this would be my gift for myself. so which one? and what brand?

I currently own both of them. It really all depends what you will be utilizing them for. iPad is more portable for internet usage the most, that what I use to go out and about and travel with, my laptop is more for school and work. I currently have a Dell laptop and I love it, this is actually my third laptop which I have purchased through them and they are actually really good and reliable.
Whatever you decide they are both great choices and I hope you enjoy them.

The reason I bought both is because I hate traveling with the big laptop, especially when I only utilize it mainly for internet usage. So my hubby for our anniversary, got me the iPad, which is extremely convenient. My laptop for me essential for school, that is the main reason I purchased it, I am currently in the process of obtaining my bachelor's degree and I need for my school work, if not I probably wouldn't have purchased it.
But both were definitely a great investment.
Good luck in deciding which to one to buy...

I agree with what tonyllenium said that laptop is more complete devices than a tablet ipad and it has a big difference between the two. Laptop gives you much more freedom than the ipad for example an ipad doesn't have customizable desktop background and such, plus there is no pointer since there is no mouse. The Ipad does have a cool features like touch screen and specal gyro, but to me, a laptop still beats the ipad a lot. haha...Basically Ipad is just a large ipod touch. It cant run OSX, it doesnt support flash files..(i think)..and Ipad is very sensitive gadgets than a laptop so you should not be comfortable like in a long distance travel you cannot put it on your bags the same way of laptop..
But, it's up to you, if you wanting have the same gadget and you can afford why not...go!!..:)

personally i prefer a laptop because it is more complete device than a tablet as ipad!!In reality as regards ipad or similar you should consider that normally they enable really limited configuration and in amny cases they can be considered not really useful!!Surely as regards laptop you can make many other things and youa re not obliged to install little mobile softwares that in amny cases you should buy day by day!!
As regards laptop brands are always the same as dell,hp,sony vaio,lenovo,asus...

Buy a small laptop. I believe it is call netbook. With it, you can bring it anywhere and achieve the portability of an ipad and the usability of a laptop.
If you still feel like buying an ipad, then do so when you have enough earning already to buy it.
