It was never and easy job to be a good teacher in my city today since you have to deal with many problems from the students and also with their parents. It was totally different from when it was many years ago. There can be more expectation from the society ( in my city) even the payment is good.A teacher has passed another language examination even they already have a degree or dipolma . They also have to get a cerificate or a dipolma to secure their job after they have a degree and actually it is a must in my city. It has been like that for a long time in the North American Countries, I don't know about Europe.I think it should be the same as North America.I am in Asia.)Well, what about your city, share with us ?

First, it's hard to be a teacher. Because it's hard to teach someone who don't appreciate what you are doing. Well as for me, I'm a student of education, I practice teaching right now, I'm not a teacher yet but I always have headaches because of my dear students. Hard headed students that don't want to learn, listen and to obey. This is the problem, A teacher is always angry because of students that don't care about there future. It's so sad to know that there are parents who can't take good care of there children. So the child grows naughty and lazy.

yes, you are right. the students are alwyas a headache to the teacher in today's world. The students are getting really tricky and sometimes it is so hard to deal with their discipline problem. They always want others to undersatnd and listen to them. But they just can't do the same to others .To be a successful teacher, we realy have to grasp what's in their mind today before you can really teach them about life.Perhaps the most influencial perosn in their life is not their parents , nor the teacher as well. Actually, thier peers are always the most influecial people to their life. If the peers are good, then it is better. BuT If their peers will gave them bad influence, there they will be.

I think it's hard to be a good teacher in my city today. I've taught mostly adult education. I've substitute taught and didn't like it. I also had a chance to teach at this top rated high school. I didn't like it. I love adult education because it gives people who dropped out of school, a second chance. My school used to be one of the best, but now it isn't. The children are very hard to teach. I am a tutor and see how much the children are missing out on things. Many of their parents missed out and it seems to pass on to their children. Don't get me wrong, the parents want their children to learn, but the children somehow get the parent's attitudes which are bad.

It can be difficult to get a job as a teacher. i enjoyed teaching but I didn't like the politics that were involved! Then if you move from one state to another you have to jump through all these hoops like you don't really have a degree to begin with!

I think that around here it really depends on what level of education you are teaching. For the most part I would say that I think that it is easy to teach elementary school because most of the children are pretty innocent. I think that middle school is probably the most challenging level to teach because of the fact that children are going through so many changes in their lives during those years. High school I think has its own challenges, but I don't think it would be terribly difficult to teach that age.

Hello wildlittlefan!
As far as I am concerned, I am in Asia the same with you. I have been in Asia when I was born. I think it is very difficult for us to be a good teacher who is respected by people all around you. If you just try your best, I think it is not enough. Some the people will still criticize on you. Because in the daily life, you will make some mistake more or less. In that case, people will just remember your fault ,not the good point.

I am a primary school teacher and I went to university to train for that and do much learning. I teach children from 3 to 11 years old and my favorite age range is ages 5 to 7. Schools tend to have their advantages and disadvantages. I have taught in city schools, town schools and village schools. To be able to teach at a school a person would need a degree and qualified teacher status. There are some opportunities for English as a foreign language teachers to work in the summer teaching students at summer school. These would have a Teaching English as a Foreign Language Certificate or Diploma. Some children and students are well behaved and a delight to teach. Teachers have a pay scale and it goes up as his or her career progresses. In fee paying schools the pay system might be different. The employer would be the school through the council, a fee paying school or a language school.

Hi there Wild Little Fan!
I think it's always hard to be a teacher, not just because of the academics but because it is physically and intellectually demanding. Here in the Philippines, you have to finish a four-year study. It depends upon who you plan to teach. For elementary pupils, you will take up Bachelor of Elementary Education. That course can have different specializations depending upon what are offered in your chosen college or university. If you're planning to teach high school students, you can take up Bachelor of Secondary Education and major on a certain subject. Like me, I am taking up Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in English. If you want to teach college students, most colleges and universities require Master's Degree. If you want to teach in a public school, you have to pass the licensure exam.

I had been teaching here in my country for many years and as the years go by, students attitude changes. This makes teaching difficult. The messing of parents when it come to disciplining their children in school is another factor. Gone were the days when teachers are considered as a partner for parents to discipline and educate their children. These days, teachers really has to earn their bachelors and then masters and Phd or EdD. This is just an additional qualification but as long as they had earned their bachelor's degree and passed the board examination, it qualifies them to teach.

I think this is the toughest job in town. I mean, there are many teachers, but a good teacher, I haven't found one in my life. I used to work as a teacher myself. My students loved me a lot. But then it's not just about student-teacher relationship anymore. Education has turned into business. There are people, owner of educational institutions who want to make some serious money out of it. Then there are parents who thinks education is a serious investment and they should get the return as soon as possible. Both of them are putting a lot of pressure. Both of them are so impatient about the educational system. It reminds me of a tale told by Aesop about a goose that used to lay golden eggs. But it is only the students and the teachers who are being subjected to the pressure. Nobody wants reform. No one wants students to learn. It's the certificates and degrees that they care about. It makes the task more difficult for teachers. A teacher, today, can't do or act like he wants to, because the system no longer runs with a motivation for welfare and reform.

I used to teach in a city and I did not have much problems with students and parents. I stop teaching but some of my colleagues who still in the profession do not complain much. With so many modern technologies that aid teaching, I think they enjoying it more than before. The requirements for additional education and training I think is reasonable since a lot has to be taught to today's generations.

Hello wildlittlefan,
Being a teacher is never been an easy task. It is a noble job. Teachers are treated and serve as the second parent of the pupils they may have for the whole school year. Being the teacher and the second parent one may think of the general concern of the pupils not just for academic but as well as the whole personality of a child to be a fruitful citizen when he/she grow up. Schools are the second home of the children where the complicated nurturing and molding of children is being done. Children are the future of every nation and it should not be taken for granted at all. Teaching courses in my country need to get and pass the teachers board licensing exam and it is not an easy exam after all after graduating from a teaching courses.
Happy myLotting!!!

i don't teach and i do not have a formal education from school. i studied at home on my own. i think being a teacher is not an easy job especially when your students are not doing their part as a student. i could thraw someone out from the window if they don't behave lol. i could bang someone's head on the black or white board when they don't understand the lesson. i hate talkative students and i might bring them into prune. i'll let them stand in the desert the whole day bare footed okay. im 23 and there are a lot of chance if i want to become a teacher but no i would not.
