I want to paint or paper in there and make it more cheerful for all my crafting time....I think I might be a bit more productive if I am in an enviroment that is cheery! What do you think....do you do better when you feel like the area is bright and cheery....or doesn't it matter to you?

For me it doesn't matter.. but I have limited space and limited resources. At the moment I'd just enjoy a little peace and quiet to get my school work done. It is so hard to concentrate when the kids are being loud and hyper and asking me something every 2 seconds.

Yes.. but of course I'm always busy! If it's not school work then it's "work" work online (like my paid sites). Rarely am I ever not doing something.

As long as there is plenty of space to work...anything else is just a sideline! I had one for the first time at a house I was at 4 years ago. All mine! I had a big shelf until (one of those metals one like in garages, heavy and holds alot of weight!) and 2 6' banquet style tables. One table had only the current work I was doing, the other had things laid out that I was working on or waiting for one thing or another. The shelves had a couple of those plastic three drawer units for everything from tags, and paper and scissors etc. On my working desk tho...was something I created that was great. I got one of those banker boxes (reinforced for storage so it was good and heavy) and I got those green hanging file folder things and this box, being a bankers box had the metal frame in it and those green folders hung on that and I had my papers in there by color. 12x12 and 8x10 , prints and solids. It was perfect and fast for getting the papers I wanted and for putting back what I didn't want and having it all right at my finger tips without being in the way. The shelves held things like the metal alphabet punch sets and notebooks of things and the like. I sure miss it! I even had a phone and a tv in there!

First of all, I want a room that I can call a craft room!!
I have plans to buy a shelf to put in my bedroom to replace the far over flowing tote that I call my quilt tote. Then, I need totes for yarn etc.
Under my desk I have a 6 drawer cabinet (shoebox size drawers). I bought it at a yard sale for just $3 and the things that were in the drawers that I don't use in my crafting, I turned around and sold at our next garage sale making back the $3. Anyway, it holds my small crafts...one drawer for dish scrubbies, one for wash clothes, one for plastic canvas magnets and coasters etc.
I'm working on organizing in what room I do have, and hopefully, doing so will make my craft time more enjoyable and more productive when it's easier to see and find what I need.

It already looks so much better....I told my little granddaughter I was cleaning it and she said...did you pick up all that stuff off the floor that we can't even use? She is such a little squirt..then I told her that I had redone everything and had a bunch of empty containers and she says...I need those! LOL

I have started going through and organizing my scrapbooking and other supplies--I think it really makes a difference in my productivity level (plus, I find stuff I forgot I had). I don't have one dedicated room, but if I did, I think cheery and bright walls and other decor is a big plus. Have fun decorating!

Me too, although it's tough not going to the craft store just "to look!"

I prefer for things to be neat and organized. I like rooms to be very clean and filled with light, so brightness is important to me. I don't have a craft room, so all of my craft supplies are shoved into various cupboards and drawers around our apartment. I guess I should find some kind of system for them.

Doesn't matter to me. My "craft" is writing, and all I care about is that I have a comfortable place to sit, and that there is a pillow on my lap on which I can balance my laptop. Then I plug in my headphones, put on my favourite music, and tune the world out. :)

Yes, I do better when the room is bright and cheery. I don't like it when rooms are dark and dreary looking cause that kinda makes me feel down or something. And I like being happy and bright cheery colors make me feel good and happy. I want to repaint all the rooms in our house. We painted them when we moved in about 8 years ago and there are scratches and stuff on the walls and places where things have hit the walls. I am going to pick some nice pretty colors to paint with and hopefully we can do it sometime soon.

I have my own scrapbooking room, and when I set it up I decided on the color theme, which is pink, aqua, and browns. I love having a bright, cheery room to work in. I also decorated my walls with scrapbooking layouts that had the same colors in them as my color scheme. Have fun with it, and yes, go for bright and cheery.

Oh, yes, it does matter to me! Gloomy, dark areas are not good for anything. My kitchen is painted white with blue and yellow cabinets, but I'm about to change that to all white and decorate with colors - curtains, napkins, potholders and so on. My office/craft room is a warm light beige which I'm tired of. It's really a non color and I want something brighter. Next on my list! :)

Oh for sure it makes a difference. Something bright and cheery should make you feel that way, and even if you're not in the best of moods, something pretty to look at can change the mood. At least I think so.
That's why in the winter I love to buy flowers and set them around the house. Winter is such a gloomy time for me, but when I see such stimulating colors along with a wonderful fragrance, it helps shoo the gloomies away.
Here's a tiny suggestion...if you paint the walls and just get a wallpaper border, you can always change the border quicker than tackling a whole wall of wallpaper or all the walls. You can refresh your craft room once a year and make it look all different if you get bored with it, and have a new look every year. I guess I get bored easily, lol!

In a couple of weeks my husband and I are going to move into the house that we have bought, and for the very first time I will get my own craft room. So far I have used the living room or the kitchen to work on my crafts, because we didn't have an extra room, and I am very happy that I will get my own room this time I am thinking about the decorations at the moment. I have decided to paint the walls white to get a bright atmosphere and I plan on decorating the room in different ways. I going to use some of my favourite art or other things.

Everywhere in my house is bright and cheery! Kitchen YELLOW with white trim. Powder blue living room. Anything I can paint it happy! Exceptions to this are the den and the family/entertainment room. Caves are whats necessary for watching movies or doing taxes, yuck.
