I sleep from 5 morning to 12 afternoon. Its really abnormal to sleep at those hours but what can I do to sleep at night? I had this self alarm clock which wakes me up every night at 2am to surf internet. And at day time I tend to sleep at 2pm. I am not working right now coz I had to take care of my mother. Shall be working in the next 3 months. For your info I had some depression for 13 years already. Its not the meds problem but its kinda boring at afternoon so I sleep for an hour or two to takes time away. What do you think? If I change my sleeping modes then I can change my job type. If I maintain what I do now, I should be earning flexible job instead.
What do you do to sleep at normal hours? Please help. I have tried coffee and tv nothing helps at day time and night time.

Reversing your sleep cycle is something that is very difficult to do. Eight years ago I was working third shift at a local hospital and it took me the majority of the time that I worked there to be able to live my life on 3rd shift time. Now I've not been working there for about six years and I've still not been able to get my schedule straightened up. I know that it is possible to reverse your sleeping cycle, but it really is something that you have to be vigilant about trying to do.

greetings! we almost have the same schedule, since i sleep at 3 am then wake up between 10-11 am. but this is only because my work starts at 2pm. if i need to go to the office earlier than that, i sleep earlier than usual. do you always stay in your room when you're awake? i read somewhere that when you do all your tasks in your room, it becomes an activity area and your room no longer becomes an area for sleeping. it tends to remind you of activities, and not of sleep. so try to stay away from your room until you really need to sleep.

Try readjusting your body clock by staying up more than 24hours and going to bed the following night. I'm sure by that time your body couldn't resist sleep and you would then be awake by morning. I do suggest that you eat a lot and drink a lot of water too, though before you go to sleep. I do this whenever I screw my sleeping time just to get back to the regular and it works 90% of the time. There are instances though that I tend to oversleep and the pattern gets worst so it's better to probably set an alawm the following morning or ask somebody to wake you up. Good luck!

Dear friend,
If it is a habit, I feel it can be changed with our own way, but if it has become addition I feel may be a better expert has to consulted. Moreover, here there are lots of call center working people they do their job from 1am to 8am. During day they either sleep or do their work. It could be may be for a few years until they get promotion. I feel this can be easily changed provided the person is willing.

I try to stay off my back during the day. The last time I had trouble sleeping, I remember that I was slacking and my energy level was down. As long as I keep moving, and don't get bored and try to nap while the sun is up, I can sleep like a champion.

I love you discussion and really caught my attention. Its a mix of everything, its ok for you to stay at night since you need to take care of your mother. I would suggest that you need to have someone who can be with you (eg. friend or a relative), who can help you to take turns in taking care of your mother. Regarding your depression, 13 years is a too long to endure. Why don't you go on a vacation or treat yourself. I don't know the reason behind your depression but take in consideration that your mother needs you and you need to take care of yourself.
When I can't sleep? I do house chores or the best part is to read and pray...

Right now I sleep from 4 PM to 12 AM each night. I can change this habit, because this is what it is, but it takes awhile for the new habit to take over.

Sleeping when its dark out at night time is the best for you, as you will get the most sleep you need. I take Benedryl at night to get me to sleep and to also sleep through the night and it actually really does work for me and alot of other people as well. If you dont sleep during the day or even so take a nap during the day you will see that you will be sleeping normal hours like everyone else if you drink something with caffeine or eat something like chocolate durig the day you will find yourself up during the day and get tired at night. Dont drink caffeine or eat chocolate after dinner time because it might not be good for you and you wont sleep at night. This is just some ideas for you and goodluck.

The only thing that I've really been able to do to sleep at night is to take myself into a very unhealthy level of exhaustion, which usually involves screwing up the sleep pattern first :( When I say unhealthy, I'm referring being exhausted the point that it takes a great deal of effort just to be able to breathe. Then I force myself to stay awake until 9 or 10pm.. no caffeine... do something boring and then BAM. I can usually get back onto a normal sleep schedule of sleeping at night, but for me, because of pain, its usually short term.

I have pretty normal sleeping schedule, I sleep between the hours of 11PM through 5AM, since I have to be at work by 7:30AM, I not only have to get myself ready but my kids as well, if not trust me I would sleep a bit longer.
But lately I have been experiencing difficulties falling asleep and/or staying asleep during the night. I wake up in the middle of night and have difficulties falling back asleep. I have tried talking non-prescription sleep aids such as Tylenol or Advil Sleep, that normally does the trick, but I can't take them during the week because if not I won't be fully functionable and also I noticed that I also tend to get a bit cranky. The other thing that has help me is drinking Chamamael Tea, I don't know if that's how you spell it, but anyways that does help a bit since it is suppose to relax you.
I know that my stress level has been a bit elevated lately, so that is probably why I am having so much difficulties sleeping.

you can make it. first, you have to eat on time. if are used to to having 3 meals a day take it on time. do exercise and even though you do not have job, spend your day time worthy by doing all your household chores with the inclusion of course of taking care of your mother who is sick. make sure you are tired enough as the sun waxes. you may relax after by logging in the internet without over indulgence. in that scenario you are just waiting for the right time to sleep. i am sure if you are tired enough you will get into sleep. most of all don't forget your self motivation you know you can do it and the mindset is very important! okay? you'll be fine i know.
