I have been thirsty all day today and I just can't seem to get enough to drink. I am diabetic so I checked my blood sugar and it is only at 100 so that is not the reason. I have drank bottled water and several cans of diet pop. What else can I do to help with the thirst?

I have some days like that! I am just constantly thirsty and just keep downing the water. I really notice it on days after I had a salty meal (especially Chinese food.) Some days it just happens for no real reason. I just keep downing the water and try to eat foods that have a high water content (celery for example.) That's about all you can do!

Drinking soda will make you more thirsty, it will not quench your thirst. I am wondering, since you took that herbal supplement last night for the sleep study, I went and looked but excessive thirst is not a side effect of anything you mentioned. You had that sleep study and slept lots of hours, so if you slept with your mouth open you will have lost a lot of moisture. Gatorade may help, if you can get some sugar free. Or squeeze a lemon in your water. I would also be wondering if perhaps you have a fever. That would have dehydrated you.

I wonder if it is a side effect from some type of medication?? I know sometimes i can eat some type of meats and I then feel like I have to drink an ocean. Ham, steak and roast for some odd reason does this to me.
From what I understand with some having thirsty issues is that it is related to, thyroid issues or an electrolyte imbalance. But the major one seems to be diabetes.
So I would consult your doctor if it persists as drinking loads of water "normally" would do it, but it sounds like you have been doing that.
Plain water normally is what does it for me as dehydration seems to be my issue, but ask your doctor linda as maybe it is side effects from something, especially if it happens for two repetitive days.

Human's thirst for water can be directly related to your body fluid needs. Whenever they are low in water content, you will feel thirst.
There are a few factors which affect your body fluid requirement. Perhaps you can check it out articles at my profile page and see if it is helpful. It is a very simple article about water requirements.
If else don't turn out good, you better seek for a doc advice!

always bring with you bottled water.and as much as possible avoid sodas 'cause these also causes you to be more thirsty later due to the sugar contents of it.keep at least a bottle of water in your bag so that you can drink anytime anywhere you are.
