Hello mylotters,
I'm Windows user in 10 years. And the interface of windows are very user friendly. And a lot of Apps you can install. Since when my prof introduce to us the UNIX based OS i'm become interested. I download and install Ubuntu 10.04. In first place it is hard to understand. Not tottaly user friendly but very useful. I love the virtual memory because it make my work faster. And I still exploring the contents of that OS especially the "Shells". Share your experienced with Ubunutu or other UNIX OS.

I definitely support Ubuntu, and all of the other Linux-Based Distributions. They cause the user to really to get know their computer, and they teach users a lot as far as the way that computers interact with the owners(and other computers.) As far as security concerns, Linux-Based Operating Systems are the way to go. There's no need to be worried about a virus or anything of the sort, because in Linux you basically control everything that goes on. There's a program for everything, without the memory-wasting flashy clients that are the biggest downfall of the Windows Operating Systems.
The difference between Linux and Windows:
Windows uses a computers memory; Linux Utilizes it

I used to use it alot but it became too much of a pain getting things to run in it (although do-able). Just not something I had time or patience on doing for almost every single one of my programs.
Definitely not a OS for everyone to use but it is nice once you get used to it.
