I've been on mylot for a short while now, and have realized that photos can be posted in discussions, but I've never actually come across any that have been posted. From what I hear, you need a 500 before you can post in discussions, so why don't more people take that opportunity and post photos? I'm excited to reach the 500 mark (which I believe is the number next to your name...still not too clear on that), but will need to be on here for a while longer before that can happen. Have you posted any photos in discussions? Why don't you do it more?

Yes i've posted some of my works here in the art interest group. It's really great posting my arts here (even though they're far from an art).

That's a pretty smart idea...keep it up. You never know who might stumble upon them and want a copy for themselves.

Yes it is the number after your name. Yes I actually just recently posted a photo on a discussion about photo editing. I don't do it as much as I could or would like to, but I have posted a few pictures on here. I often forget to do it though or my topic does not match any of the pictures that I have and could post, but if I have a picture that goes with something I am asking I will certainly post it.

That seems to be the biggest problem. A person wants to upload a photo, but doesn't have one readily available for the topic that they are involved in.

As the other responses already said, you can add a photo when you start a discussion right from your first post here. After 500 you can also add them in responses and comments.
I don't add any because I have none to add and I am wary of violating the copyright laws so I just don't use that facility. Read the photo Guidelines before you starting adding them so that you know what you can and cannot do too.

I've read over the guideline a few times now, and I can't determine if a photo can be taken from a royalty free site can be used. Royalty free mean that there isn't a copyright on it and it can be used on websites, blogs and other spots, but a reference to the artist needs to be mentioned. I already uploaded a royalty free photo into a discussion, so hopefully, it doesn't go against mylot rules and get deleted.

Hello Pennies To a Dream! Nice nickname by the way.
When I first started mylot, I did use images on my discussions.
For personal reasons I stopped using mylot for a long time and just started again. Actually, I just posted my first discussion after a while and I did use a photo, well, a print screen.
I don't understand what you said about the 500, but you can post photos on discussions. What you can't do is copy paste text and there are also some rules about the photos you add to mylot. I think they do give you a little more money for uploading pictures and there is a daily limit!
And I'll take your advise and post photos on discussions!
Have a grrrreat day, Libna!

Thanks in regards to the name...it's actually the name of my website (I could send the link if you'd like). I'm glad you decided to return to mylot and give it another go. It's a fasinating place and the more the merrier. I guess I was mistaken by what I had seen about the 500 mark. If and when you reach 500, you can copy/paste and also add photos into your responses and comments, and not just the discussions you start. I hope I'm getting this right...lol. I'll definitely be trying to upload photos as much as I can, just so that it make mylot a prettier place to look at. (It's already pretty great, but it's nice to see new photos too)
